<br />The following people voiced strong support for the establishment of the <br />Downtown Business Improvement Area No.2: <br /> <br />Joan Jordan, Jordan Arts and Frames, 831 Jefferson Street, Redwood City, <br />with two employees <br />Geri Mayers, Mayers Jewelers, 2303 Broadway, Redwood City, with two <br />employees <br />Kenneth Stalder, 515 King Street, Redwood City, resident <br />Jan Smiley, Attorney, 620 Jefferson Street, Redwood City, with one and <br />one-half employees, who suggested Council limit membership of the <br />Advisory Board to those people paying the assessments, and recommended <br />that the Executive Board of the Downtown Business Association be <br />appointed to the Advisory Board, using the City of Alameda improvement <br />district board as a model. <br />Loretta Thomas, Bit of Country, 2301 Broadway, Redwood City with two <br />employees <br />Bob Peterson, Sequoia Stationers, 2116 Broadway, Redwood City with four <br />employees <br />Dennis Bagwell, Redwood City Optical, 2649 Broadway, Redwood City with two <br />employees <br />Eva Crook, Redwood Pastry Shop, 2650 Broadway, Redwood City <br />Bob Bryant, Court House Coffee Shop, 2227 Broadway, Redwood City <br />Nat Mangini, Lock Drugs, 2205 Broadway, Redwood City with five employees <br /> <br />Mr. Graves, Loose Ends for Hair, 27 James Street asked Council about <br />businesses in the Redevelopment Area and if they would benefit from this new <br />improvement district. Councilman Murray advised he would meet with Mr. <br />Graves after the meeting to discuss the redevelopment situation, and assured <br />him that all businesses in Area No.2 would benefit. <br /> <br />The following individual opposed the establishment of the Business <br />Improvement District Area No.2: <br /> <br />Joseph Steinfeld, Antique Alliance, 850 Main Street, Redwood City with two <br />employees advised that government sponsored agencies get in the way of <br />business, and the proposed budget is so small that there is no chance for <br />success. <br /> <br />Mayor La Berge asked if anyone else wished to speak on the establishment of <br />the Downtown Business Improvement Area No.2. <br /> <br />No one else wished to speak. <br /> <br />Mayor La Berge asked if anyone wished to speak on the disestablishment of <br />the Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Area No.1. <br /> <br />No one wished to speak. <br /> <br />M/S: Stangel/Bury to close the public hearing. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote and public hearing was closed at 9:22 p.m. <br /> <br />Minute Book No. 50 <br />Page No. 197 <br /> <br />Reg.
