In addition, <br /> the program provides support to the families of youth referred so they can help create the conditions that <br /> will support the successful transition of their children from childhood to adulthood. $15,000 was requested <br /> to support the staffing of FOCYS' Redwood City Family Groups.. <br /> <br /> Raoe Trauma Services - Sexual Assault Services <br /> Rape Trauma Services of San Mateo County strives to eliminate all forms of violence, with a special focus <br /> on sexual assault and abuse. RTS provides confidential services to children and adults who have been <br /> uirectly or Indirectly hurt by the trauma of sexual abuse, assault, or harassment. In addition to direct <br /> services, the organization works to prevent violence through educational workshops in the schools and the <br /> community. $20,000 was requested to expand program outreach and services in Redwood City. <br /> <br /> Salvation Army - Emer,qency Assistance Proqram <br /> In Redwood City, the Salvation Army has been serving the needs of the less fortunate since 1960. The <br /> Emergency Assistance Program provides weekly food boxes, motel vouchers, clothing and necessity <br /> vouchers and PG&E payments. Salvation Army also provides programs and guidance for senior citizens, <br /> youth and young adults and families. $12,000 was requested to support the Emergency Assistance <br /> Program. <br /> <br /> Samaritan House - Redwood Free Clinic <br /> Founded in 1974, Samaritan House is a community-based nonprofit organization with over 26 years of <br /> experience In meeting the needs of Iow-income residents of San Mateo County - primarily in San Mateo. <br /> In May, 2001, Samaritan House opened the Free Clinic of Redwood City to provide free healthcare <br /> services to Iow-income individuals and families who do not receive medical insurance through their Iow- <br /> wage jobs, cannot afford "out of pocket" healthcare expenses, and have no other access to healthcare <br /> services. $30,000 was requested to support this program. <br /> <br /> San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network ~IHN) - Rotatin.q Shelter and Day Center <br />The San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) mobilizes the community to provide a rotating <br />shelter in churches and synagogues for homeless families. Volunteers prepare and share home-cooked <br />dinners with the guests, facilitate activities with the children and help with homework, remain at the site <br />throughout the night, and prepare breakfast and a bag lunch. As a part of the program, IHN operates <br />family day centers in Burllngame and at the Eisa Segovia Center for Woman, Families and Children in <br />Menlo Park - providing a home-base for homeless families during the daytime as they seek further <br />training, employment opportunities, counseling, childcare, etc. $10,000 was requested to support IHN's <br />efforts to expand their rotating shelter program in Redwood City making it possible to expand the number <br />of homeless Redwood City families they are able to serve. <br /> <br />San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) - Transportation. Shelter Eauioment <br />The San Mateo County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) mobilizes the community fo provide a rotating <br />shelter in churches and synagogues for homeless families. Volunteers prepare and share home-cooked <br />dinners with the guests, facilitate activities with the children and help with homework, remain at the site <br />throughout the night, and prepare breakfast and a bag lunch. $25,000 was requested to purchase a van <br />for transporting families between the rotating shelter sites and the day centers and to purchase equipment <br />for the creation of a second shelter rotation in the Redwood City/south county area. <br /> <br />Service Leaaue of San Mateo County - Emerqency Assistance Pro.qram <br />The program addresses the needs of Redwood City residents recently released from San Mateo County <br />jails, their immediate families, and the families of those who are in custody who reside In Redwood City. <br />$15,000 was requested to help Service League provide the basic needs of food, clothing, transportation, <br />and temporary shelter to those who qualify. <br /> <br />Service Leaeue of San Mateo County - Hope House <br />Hope House provides a 180-day recovery program for women who are released from the San Mateo <br />County Women's Correctional Center, and who have a desire to resolve their alcohol and/or drug <br /> <br /> <br />
