C. City Council Input
In response to City Manager Everett's questions, Council Members listed
programs/projects that should be emphasized or some that should be
phased out, or some not related to the budget:
Councilman Claire - emphasize police and their youth programs, park and
recreation, Red Morton Center, code enforcement, and look at enterprise
funds and how they may be better utilized; 5th Avenue flood area needs
attention and would like a Viet Nam Memorial plaque in front of City
Hall with names of Redwood City residents
Councilwoman Buchan - emphasize child care Coordinator's position, code
enforcement, police, park and recreation, and look at intergovernmental
charges to see if cost can be curtailed; top priorities are Red Morton
Councilman Greenalch - emphasize child care and human services, Red
Morton Center, community center in Redwood Shores, and look at
community development now that expansion is slowing, and consolidation
of fire services and maybe police; top priorities are Sequoia Station,
Redwood Shores community center/school and Red Morton Center
Mayor La Berge - look at changing role of fire departments, with success
in prevention of fires they now play prominent role in medical emergency
