216
Mr. Fred Gates, 3871 Vineyard Drive, read letter
prepared by him concerning certain questions on the
GID 1-64 allocations in the proposed budget (Mr.
Gates advised he would submit a copy to Council.)
Motion to close the public hearing carried.
City Manager and City Clerk certified the Official Budget document as approved.
Councilman Rosselli moved to introduce Ordinance of the City of Redwood City adopting
the Final Budget of the City of Redwood City for the fiscal year July 1, 1966 -
June 30, 1967; providing for the appropriation and expenditure of all sums set forth
in said Budget; providing for emergency expenditures, transfers, additional appro-
priations and cancellation of existing appropriations; and, repealing Ordinance No. —
1199, as amended, and all ordinances and resolutions in conflict herewith; and,
adopting the Budgets for General Improvement Districts No. 1-64, No. 1-65, No. 2-65,
and No. 3-65 for the fiscal year July 1, 1966 -June 30,1967 seconded by Councilman
Petersen and carried.
Five Minute recess called by Mayor Herkner at 10:30 P. M.
PUBLIC HEARING, Official Plan Lines, Marshall Street (from Maple to Chestnut)
declared open and affidavits of publication and mailing ordered filed. Council
informed plan lines recommended were first adopted in May of 1960 and extended
to June 30, 1966. Staff analysis stated that although improvement of this street
has not been a high priority project, it is considered essential that the right-
of-way for widening be protected in view of construction of Kaiser Hospital and
other developments which will affect the traffic along Marshall Street and make
it imperative.
A. S. Ligouri, owner of property on Marshall Street,
requested clarification of proposed plan lines.
Mr. Ligouri was advised plan lines proposed at this hearing exactly the same
as the one now existing.
Mr. Ligouri favored widening of Marshall Street for
City improvement, in spite of fact he would lose
portion of his property.
There being no written, communications, or oral protest, Councilman Bury moved to
close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried.
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5065 ESTABLISHING OFFICIAL PLAN
LINES FOR THE WIDENING OF MARSHALL STREET BETWEEN MAPLE STREET AND CHESTNUT STREET,
seconded by Councilman Keckley. Council questioned protest made at Planning Com-
mission hearing by Mr. Gelb, owner of Great Western Furniture Store, 1748 Broadway,
and was advised by Staff his protest concerned lack of space for rear parking should
street be widened. Motion carried unanimously on roll call vote.
PUBLIC HEARING, Official Plan Lines for a connecting street 54 feet in width from Valota
Road to Sierra Street, and between 1715 and 1717 Valota Road, declared open and
affidavits of publication and mailing ordered filed. Slide shown of the proposed
street, and Staff report submitted stated this concerned Perry and Abernathy
properties. Recent inquiries indicate that developments are proposed and street
would be needed for property development. There being no written communications
or oral protest, Councilman Keckley moved to close the public hearing, seconded
by Councilman Granger and carried.
