224
mailing ordered filed. Planning Commission report read in which it was rec-
ommended to prezone area described as RH. Staff analysis read stating Planning
Commission had denied application made by WM. R. Barnett for RG zoning for this
area, and also by request of Planning Commission, rezoning had included the corner
lot at Canyon Road and Oak Knoll, not being a part of application, to the RH zoning. _
Robert Dell'Eggo, Attorney representing owners of property
on the corner of Oak Knoll and Canyon Road, Mesdames Arthur
and Blevins, protested inclusion of this parcel in RH zoning
and reviewed history of its commercial use since 1933, with
description of other commercial uses of adjacent corners at
this intersection. He further requested this parcel be
removed from this proposed action for prezoning and referred
back to Planning Commission with recommendation present —
zoning be maintained.
Councilman Rosselli questioned Staff on prezoning proposed for this corner in
view of past commercial zoning. Planning Director explained that the corner
parcel was included in the prezoning in view of the pending annexation, but no
study had been made of the reasons the property had been vacant so long. Coun-
cilman Keekley questioned City Attorney on possibility of Council action to elim-
inate this one parcel from proposed zoning and rezone it to commercial, and yet
proceed to rezone adjoining parcels as recommended. City Attorney advised Council
should delete the parcel from this action and direct Staff to initiate proceed-
ings to rezone parcel in question to commercial.
Wm. G. Barnett, 21 Hillview, applicant for rezoning, urged
his property in this area also be included in a commercial
zoning.
Councilman Rosselli advised corner parcel had existed as a commercial zoning for
some years and felt sufficient study had been made on remaining area under con-
sideration to indicate RH zoning justified, Councilman Rosselli moved to close
the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried.
Councilman Rosselli moved to introduce the revised Ordinance (deleting corner
parcel) adding Section 60.2.19 to Ordinance No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning
Ordinance, zoning property in the vicinity of Canyon Road and Oak Knoll Drive,
seconded by Councilman Granger and carried.
Councilman Rosselli moved to instruct Staff to initiate proceedings through the
Planning Commission to rezone property excluded from the above action to commer-
cial zoning, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-152)
PUBLIC HEARING, Resolution of Intention of the Planning Commission to prezone property
known as Bel Air Annexation, being Lots 35 through 48, Block 204, Highlands of
Emerald Lake No. 2, along Bel Air Way, declared open and affidavits of mailing
and publication ordered filed. Planning Commission recommended that property
known as Bel Air Annexation, being Lot 35 and Lots 44 through 48, Block 204,
Highlands of Emerald Lake ##2 be prezoned as R-1-7, and Lots 36 through 43, Block
204, Highlands of Emerald Lake #2, be prezoned as RH.
