F — - <br />270 <br />I <br />Councilman Granger questioned accuracy of estimated costs. Councilman Petersen <br />commented on Division of Highways experience proving crossings not used and also <br />cited two other areas where like circumstanc es exist. He also called attention <br />to the crossing guards and other precautions already taken. <br />After further discussion on possible financing and estimated costs presented, <br />Councilman Granger indicated he opposed the motion as presented with appropriation <br />for specific dollar amount of estimate, as felt motion should be changed to direct <br />Staff to prepare plans and specifications in order to determine actual costs. <br />Mrs. Pat Barrentine, of Redwood Civic Association, <br />concurred in recommendation for overpass at Stam- <br />baugh, and also questioned whether speed could not <br />be reduced on Woodside Road to 35 miles per hour. <br />Police Chief advised he had urged this speed limit for Woodside Road but State had <br />set it at 45 miles per hour after their survey. Councilman Bury questioned whether <br />there would be an objection to change motion in line with suggestion made by <br />Councilman Granger and not tie motion to specific sum or specific source of funds. <br />Councilman Henderson indicated her desire to leave motion as made in ivew of her <br />understanding of action possible, and changes could be made later if needed by <br />request of Staff. Motion tied on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Henderson and <br />Keckley voting yes, Councilmen Granger, Petersen and Mayor Herkner voting no. <br />Mayor Herkner stated his vote based on points contained in Division of Highways <br />letter, and that he wished to hold this matter until full Council present for <br />further consideration. <br />Councilman Granger moved to introduce Ordinance amending Section 20.105 of the Code of <br />the City of Redwood City relating to vehicle parking on El Camino Real, seconded <br />by Councilman Keckley. Councilman Bury questioned whether merchants along this <br />route of proposed restricted parking had expressed any opinions. City Manager <br />stated he believed merchants had been notified of this proposal some time ago. <br />Motion carried. <br />Councilman Bury moved that Woodside -Middlefield Overpass be placed on Council Agenda <br />again next week when full Council present, seconded by Councilman Henderson and <br />carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-183) <br />After further discussion it was indicated motion included instruction to Staff <br />to include all information possible and mandatory item be on the Agenda whether <br />full Council present or not. <br />Request of George L. Dragan, 681 Castle Hill Road, for abandonment of a portion of a <br />30 foot PUE along the rear line of Lot 13, Block 18, Farm Hill No. 2, presented <br />for consideration. Council was advised consent of the PGE and PTT had been obtained, <br />subject to the retention of a pole line and anchor easement. Councilman Henderson <br />questioned why this easement had been obtained in first instance if not needed now. <br />City Manager advised this was usual easement holding for steep hill yards when <br />first developed, but has since proven not to be needed. <br />
