Motion seconded by Councilman Henderson and unanimously carried on roll
call vote.
Councilman Granger moved to introduce Ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised
by taxation upon the taxable property within the City of Redwood City as revenue
to carry on the various departments of said City for the fiscal year 1966-67, to
pay the bonded indebtedness of said City falling due and becoming payable during
said fiscal year together with the interest thereon, to maintain the public library
of said City during said fiscal year, to provide funds for the retirement plan, and
fixing and levying the tax rate therefor. Staff report stat ed Charter required
adoption of this ordinance no later than the first regular meeting in September, and
ordinance proposed sets the rate for City Tax Rate at approximately $1.68. Motion
seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried.
Councilman Henderson moved to waive the bid requirement per Section 2.76 of the
Municipal Code. for a check protecting, signing, listing, and adding machine for
the City Treasurer's Office, and authorize purchase of the equipment, seconded
by Councilman Bury and carried unanimously on roll call vote. (MINUTE ORDER
##66-189)
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5129 APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF MARINE HARBOR FUEL DOCK FACILITY; FURNISHING OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS
IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; and, AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR. Councilman
Petersen stated he was opposed to proposed fuel dock at Municipal Marina as two
facilities already in operation are not doing too well and felt City should not
compete with private industry in this field.
Pete Uccelli, of Pete's Harbor, stated business at his site
did not warrant further fuel docks in area.
Councilman Bury agreed with Councilman Petersen's comments and also advised this
was not a recommendation by the Marina Committee of which they were members. Coun-
cilman Rosselli felt fuel dock would be a real asset to Marina and a much needed
part of the development. Mayor Herkner reported on the endeavors made for
several years to obtain a fuel dock facility at the Port as the State had asked this
be done as a part of the feasibility report, and which had been recommended by
a former Marina Committee. City Manager reviewed the excellent proposal now made
by a major oil company to construct this facility. Councilman Henderson expressed
concern this matter had not been recommended by Marina Committee. Mayor Herkner
again reported on the history of the need and attempts to get this facility for
the Marina.
