1 r
Communication addressed to Council from Dr. Lang, Lord
Mayor, City of Neu -Ulm, Germany, thanking City of Redwood
City for courtesies extended to Peter Geneuss, young
German student recently returned home from his stay as an
American Field Service exchange student.
Appointment to the Planning Commission discussed inasmuch as full Council present.
Councilman Keckley felt all three candidates should be considered. Councilman
Rosselli indicated his agreement with Councilman Keckley. Councilman Granger felt
one candidate had been already eliminated as a result of Council's previous action,
and recommended Council proceed with usual straw balloting. Councilman Henderson
protested straw balloting procedure and asked that Council appoint by verbal action.
Councilman Keckley felt straw balloting imperative when affecting personalities,
as in this case. Councilman Bury felt "secret" ballot should be called "courtesy"
ballot.
After further discussion Councilman requested straw balloting procedure for two
nominees, Robert Buickerood and Martin Mohr. After results of straw balloting
procedure announced by the Mayor, Councilman Keckley moved that a unanimous
vote be cast for Martin Mohr for appointment to the Planning Commission,
seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-190)
Councilman Bury moved that Councilman Rosselli continue to serve as Council's
representative on the Human Resources Commission, seconded by Councilman
Petersen and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-191)
Councilman Rosselli moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Councilman Bury and
carried. Meeting adjourned at 12:25 a.m.
HELEN C.
