opposition to change in the regular half-hour study meetings and felt League of <br />California Cities should be checked for information on this subject. <br />Dr. Young urged Council support of motion as felt public <br />should be more informed. <br />Vice -Mayor Bury called for roll call on amendment to the motion: "to maintain half- <br />hour study meeting before regular meetings and to be conducted in Supervisors <br />Chambers." Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Henderson, Keckley <br />and Mayor Herkner voting yes, Councilmen Granger, Petersen and Rosselli voting no. <br />Mayor Herkner resumed the chair. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to re -introduce Ordinance amending Section 2.20 of the <br />Code of the City of Redwood City, relating to Council meetings, as amended, seconded <br />by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Petersen moved that Council set a policy that all study items be placed, <br />whenever possible, on the second Monday meeting Agenda so that Council might know <br />when to except study items, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll <br />call vote, Councilmen Bury, Henderson, Keckley, Petersen, voting yes, Councilmen <br />Granger, Rosselli and Mayor Herkner voting no. (MINUTE ORDER ;x-66-199) <br />Mayor Herkner announced School Board representatives, and others interested in two <br />items continued earlier on College Site and Hoover Swim Pool, were now present. <br />Jack Stuart, Chairman of Citizens Committee for a State College Site in Redwood <br />City reviewed beginning of effort to locate a college in Redwood City. He further <br />recited the efforts made by the Citizens Committee to concentrate on demonstrating <br />public support, by speaking engagements and mailings that were made seeking such <br />support. He reported on delay now facing decision because of conditions in the <br />new State Budget which would delay available funds for site acquisition until State <br />Education Bonds are approved by voters on November 8th. He expressed opinion that <br />the Mountain View site was City's strongest competitor of remaining sites under <br />consideration as he felt Wunderlich Skyline site had problems and lack of local <br />support, which support was listed high among the site criteria. He further cited <br />similar points which he felt made Half Moon Bay site not as promising as that of <br />Redwood City. Mr. Stuart reported State Architect had informed him that the require- <br />ment of public support had been met by Redwood City. Mr. Stuart was complimented <br />on excellence of his report for College Site Committee. <br />Joseph Grimes, Superintendent of Redwood City Schools, stated <br />in his new capacity, had just become acquainted with facts <br />of possibility of college site being located in Redwood City <br />and offered City his full cooperation. <br />Mayor Herkner welcomed Mr. Grimes to Redwood City as the new Superintendent of <br />Schools and asked that Staff and Council take note of offer by Mr. Grimes. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to accept report as submitted by Chairman of Citizens <br />Committee for State College Site, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried. <br />(MINUTE ORDER i66-200) <br />
