2492 <br />Councilman Henderson asked the Council to indicate their approval of Mr. Grimes' <br />offer to get authorization for School District to work on this College matter. <br />Mayor Herkner stated Staff had been instructed to get in touch with Mr. Grimes <br />concerning his suggestions. <br />Mayor Herkner introduced all representatives of the School District present at meeting <br />and welcomed their interest. <br />REPORT OF BID OPENING, Hoover Swim Pool. The following bids were received: <br />Item;A Item C <br />Max D. Schenk $194,400 <br />Western U. S. Construction 182,041 <br />Aqua Engineering Co. $90,998 <br />Architect's Estimate $140,299 <br />Staff report stated lora bid for Hoover School Pool and Bathhouse Construction <br />approximately $28,000 more than appropriated amount. Council was advised in order <br />to be able to award bid immediately, it would be necessary to transfer total <br />amount of $35,550 by Resolution, the additional amount needed for construction, <br />plus the additional architect's fee, from an existing account which can then be <br />reimbursed by an appropriation ordinance. Councilman Rosselli stated in view <br />of recommendation of Staff for sources of funds to make award possible for <br />swimming pool he felt Council should proceed for this long overdue project for <br />this section of City as further delays would only result in additional costs. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5148 TRANSFERRING $35,550 FROM <br />APPROPRIATION FOR GENERAL MUNICIPAL BUILDING RESERVE TO PROVIDE FOR CONSTRUCTION <br />OF HOOVER SCHOOL SWIMMING POOL AND RELATED FACILITIES, seconded by Councilman <br />Keckley and carried unanimously on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Granger moved to introduce Ordinance appropriating $35,500 from con- <br />tingent reserve of Sales Tax Capital Outlay Fund to reimburse the General <br />Municipal Building Reserve appropriation for funds transferred for construction <br />of Hoover School Swimming Pool and related facilities, seconded by Councilman <br />Petersen and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5149 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF HOOVER SCHOOL SWIMMING POOLS, BATH HOUSE AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS; <br />REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID <br />WORK; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSITS, (Western U. S. Construction) <br />seconded by Councilman Bury and carried unanimously on roll call vote. <br />Don Baker, President of Board of Education, expressed his <br />feeling a great step forward had been taken by this action <br />in evidencing cooperation between City and School District <br />for this project, mentioning the land which had been acquired <br />by School District adjacent to pool site to make site more <br />suitable. <br />Mr. Grimes, School Superintendent, expressed his appreciation <br />of Council's action. <br />Councilman Petersen pointed out that while lots of people had been involved in <br />this project he felt former Councilman William Royer should be remembered for all <br />his efforts in helping to make a successful culmination possible. <br />
