M. by Mayor Herkner.
Mayor Herkner announced that an invitation had been extended to the members of the
BCDC and two members of the Staff to lunch at the Elks Club and complete tour of
Marine World Site October 5th.
Mayor also announced that the National League of Cities would have a conference
starting December 3rd in Las Vegas and that someone should attend; he does
not think he will be able to go and suggested Vice -Mayor Bury attend. Councilman
Granger questioned the source of money that would pay for this trip. Mayor
Herkner stated he would try to go for one or two days at his own expense.
Councilman Rosselli stated he would abstain from any comment on Item 9, Lexington
Avenue Improvement District, because he owns property in this area.
Councilman Bury questioned if there was any plan for a left turn at Main Street
and Veterans Blvd., in regard to public hearing concerning Standard Oil Company,
(Item X42) Planning Director stated owners indicated willingness to give whatever
is needed for the street widening. City Manager said there are no funds in budget
for extension of bridge; raider bridge structure will be at our expense; and
State will not participate in improving Main Street, since it is no longer part
of the State Highway System.
Councilman Granger questioned beautification of Veterans Boulevard. City Manager
pointed out that no grade has been set, and if trees are planted now it would
have to be in planter boxes, so that when the west side of the street is
improved, they would not have to remove the trees. Councilman Granger asked
Council to consider planting Redwood Trees at every entrance to Redwood City,
before the Centennial Celebration and he would like this item put on some
future Agenda.
Councilman Rosselli stated he wanted a report on straightening of creek at
Community Park and would like to have it on the Agenda in 2 or 3 weeks showing
cost figures and source of funds.
