City Manager stated this has not been discussed. <br />The subject of opening barrier at Gemco was discussed, and their participation <br />in the cost. <br />Chief Faulstich stated that if barrier is opened at Oak Avenue, there would have <br />— to be signals put in; he also stated that he recommends that barrier not be <br />opened. <br />Councilman Henderson stated that when this problem was discussed last year, the <br />general feeling by the merchants was that the barrier would be opened. Police <br />Chief Faulstich stated there was no agreement to open it but if Council would <br />open it, it should be signalized. <br />There was further discussion about State consent and participation, Staff report- <br />ing that the State had refused to do either. Cost was estimated to be approximate- <br />ly $25,000 for signalization. <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />September 26, 1966 8:00 P. M. <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Henderson. <br />Invocation led by Reverend Donald Lamka, First Congregational Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilman Robert H. Bury, Floyd <br />D. Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Paul C. Keekley, Herbert G. Petersen, John S. <br />Rosselli, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Also noted <br />present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, Assistant City Attorney Bill Keiser, <br />Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief William Faulstich, Director <br />of Public Works Louis Scherer, Planning Director Ken Schroeter, Auditor -Accountant <br />Jack Ference, Zoning Administrator William Shackelford, Building Inspector S. H. <br />Kreiss, and Senior Stenographer Sandra G. Penticuff. <br />Councilman Granger moved to approve Minutes of September 19, 1966, seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, Application of Norman F. Kreiss (Harker Development Corp.) to amend <br />the Zoning Map by rezoning the rear 25 feet of Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 9, Range B <br />Town of Mezesville Map, from R-5 to CN, 718 Arguello Street, declared open and <br />affidavits of publication and posting ordered filed. <br />Councilman Petersen asked if, in order for property to be developed, does Corp. <br />need this additional piece of property; is it necessary for the type of develop- <br />ment that is being requested, or is the property being offered for sale. <br />Jack Woodfield, appeared to represent Harker Development <br />Corp., stated his Corp. feels they need CN zoning on all <br />of their property, instead of just part, that it seems <br />�. inconsist that part should be CN and part should be R-5. <br />Planning Director stated that the 25' x 150' parcel in question could not be <br />develpped, that it is only part of the total parcel which should be zoned CN. <br />The subject of service stations was brought up, and it was pointed out that <br />Council objects to having anymore service stations in this area. Mr. Woodfield <br />stated the application for a service station had been withdrawn. <br />
