299 <br />Robert Dell -Ergo, 627 Middlefield Road, appeared on <br />behalf of Arthur-€aBlevins and explained the importance <br />of zoning this property CN. <br />William Barnett, 647 Veterans Blvd., appeared to give some <br />back history on his zoning and to state that his property <br />and Arthur-Blevins property are adjacent, and that he would <br />like the same zoning as his neighbors. He stated he would <br />like the parcel under question, to be zoned CA or P0, and <br />protested it being zoned CN, because of the fact CN is such <br />loose zoning that anything could be built on this corner <br />and he is planning to build a very expensive home in his <br />back lot and doesn't want to live behind a hamburger stand <br />or doggie diner. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman <br />Henderson and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60.2.23 to Ordinane <br />No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, zoning property in vicinity of Oak <br />Knoll Drive and Canyon Road, seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried. <br />Councilman Granger wanted assurance that this property would not be used for a <br />service station. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, Appeal of W. R. Barnett, from denial by the Planning Commission to <br />rezone a portion of Lot 7, Block 27, Oak Knoll Manor (approximately 17,000 square <br />feet in size) located at 583 Canyon Road, from RH to CN, declared open and affida- <br />vits of publication and posting ordered filed. <br />Planning Commission at their meeting of August 23, 1966, denied the application. <br />Mr. Barnett has appealed this action and also requnted the matter be scheduled for <br />hearing on the same Agenda as the public hearing on zoning of the Arthur-Blevins <br />property since the parcels are contiguous. <br />Communication read from William Barnett, 647 Veterans <br />Blvd. stated in detail why he wanted the same zoning <br />as his neighbors, or wants,CA or PO zoning, so that <br />he could build an office building on the front portion <br />of his lot. <br />Mr. Barnett reviewed discussion on the previous hearing and <br />concluded by asking that Council treat his request the same <br />as they did Arthur-Blevins. <br />Councilman Rosselli suggested Mr. Barnett negotiate with Arthur-Blevins and buy <br />the property so that he could control its development, Councilman Bury asked if <br />Council should support the recommendation of the Planning Commission and deny the <br />request, would applicant be able to come back and apply for CA or P0. Assistant <br />City Attorney stated he would not be eligible to come back for one year. <br />Mr. Barnett stated he could not wait a year because he <br />wanted to build his home now. <br />Linford E. Hill, 569 Canyon Road, appeared in support of <br />Mr. Barnett. <br />Councilman Granger moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Hender- <br />son and carried. <br />The question was asked, could Mr. Barnett withdraw his application and come back any <br />time with a new request. Assistant City Attorney stated this would be possible, <br />that Mr. Barnett write City Clerk letter stating his application is withdrawn at <br />this time. Mr. Barnett did so, and stated he would come back with a new zoning <br />request, in the near future. <br />
