ell 6 Minutes of Regular Monthly Study Meeting Redwood City Council October 10, 1966 7:30 P. M. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Herkner. Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Rosselli. Invocation led by Reverend William Light, St. Peters Episcopal Church. ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen RobertH. Bury, Floyd D. Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, Herbert G. Petersen, John S. Rosselli, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Also noted present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney Richard Gardella, Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief William Faulstich, Director of Public Works Louis Scherer, Planning Director Ken Schroeter, and Senior Stenographer Sandra Penticuff. Councilman Petersen moved to approve minutes of regular meeting of October 3, 1966, and minutes of adjourned regular meeting of October 5, 1966, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried. City Manager introduced 5 Municipal Specialists from Venezuela who are visiting Redwood City under State Department Training Program. REPORT ON SIDEWALK REPAIR CONTINUANCE GRANTED TO: Benjamin and Helen Picetti, Regal Petroleum, E1 Camino and Brewster. Council requested a report back on: 1 Completion of sidewalk repairs 2 Removal of signs from rear fence 3 Sale of items not related to service station operation. City Manager stated signs have been removed from rear fence. Discussion of sale of items not related with service stations. City Manager stated there is not use permit involved. A use permit was not required under the previous zoning ordinance. On the subject of completion of sidewalk repairs, Public Works Director stated the people involved have been negotiating for the work but it has not been accomplished. Councilman Henderson asked what Staff's recommendation is. City Manager stated that he has had no request for an extension. Councilman Petersen questioned number of days it would take to finish work. City Manager stated his recommendation would be to grant no more than a 15 -day extension. Councilman Petersen moved to grant extension of 15 days, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Henderson asked, if people involved have not requested an extension, can Council legally take this action, and was assured by City Attorney the action is a satisfactory one. City Manager stated people are making an effort in good faith. Councilman Rosselli suggested Staff write letter and notify property owners of Council's action and hope work will be concluded in time allotted. Motion carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-212) Mayor Herkner announced Item 2 on the Agenda had been removed. City Manager announced that Mr. Robin Hatfield, member of the Personnel Board had suffered a severe heart attack over the weekend and is in Sequoia Hospital. Councilman Petersen, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, mentioned transportation problem of Redwood City and Calif. He stated he received an invitation to a trans- portation conference to be held in Los Angeles on October 26th; he stated that if he is unable to attend, he would like some other member of Committee to go. Councilman Petersen requested motion to enable himself or someone else on the Transportation Committee to go to meeting.
