317 <br />Motion by Councilman Rosselli that funds be made available for member of Transpor- <br />tation Committee to attend transportation meeting in Los Angeles, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Bury and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-213) <br />Councilman Rosselli suggested writing letter complimenting Peninsula Transit Lines for <br />painting their busses and to thank them. <br />Councilman Bury left meeting at 7:48. <br />City Manager reported that the 1st of the Seismic recorders has been installed. <br />City Manager stated that before our next Council meeting, October 24th, Councilmembers <br />will be sent copies of new Weed Abatement and Grading Ordinances for study prior <br />to being placed on the Agenda for introduction. <br />Councilman Bury returned to meeting at 7:52. <br />Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION #5164 APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS <br />FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN STORM DRAIN IMPROVEMENTS IN THE VICINITY OF CANYON <br />ROAD AND IN THE VICINITY OF HIGHLAND AVENUE; AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR <br />BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. <br />Councilman Rosselli questioned if these storm drain improvements will alleviate <br />problem between Oak Knoll Drive and Canyon Road. City Manager stated to a certain <br />extent, but that full improvements on Canyon Road would be only thing that would <br />correct the situation in this area. City Clerk read communication received at <br />7:58 p.m. from: <br />Thomas R. Daly, 3519 Glenwood Avenue urging extension of <br />storm drain in this area. <br />Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION #5165 ACCEPTING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION <br />OF WATER MAIN EASEMENT AGREEMENT WITH SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY IN CONNECTION WITH <br />GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT 2-65, PROJECT W-2, seconded by Councilman Bury and <br />carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION #5166 AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AGREEMENT <br />FOR THE DESIGN OF THE WOODSIDE <br />PEDESTRIAN OVERCROSSING AND CERTAIN SER- <br />VICES RELATED THERETO, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID <br />AGREEMENT, seconded by Councilman Henderson. <br />Councilman Henderson stated members of Hoover School PTA are in complete support of <br />this Resolution. Councilman Petersen stated overpass will not accomplish what we <br />all hope it will; that there are many other areas which meet the criteria for this <br />project around Redwood City, that need attention. <br />Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Petersen voting no. <br />CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING, Assessments and Assessment Diagram Alley Improvement District, <br />1966, declared open. <br />The public hearing was continued from October 3rd for inves- <br />tigation by the City Engineer of protests and complaints sub- <br />mitted to the Council at the public hearing. <br />Charlie Mewes, 543 Encina Avenue, appeared to protest high <br />cost of paving, particularly between Madison Avenue, Jackson <br />Street, Clinton Street Adams St. Also presented petition <br />bearing 17 names in his neighborhood protesting high cost of <br />alley. <br />
