(MINUTE ORDER #66-146) <br />Councilman Bury questioned possible control of odor from present sewage treat- <br />ment plant, and was advised by City Manager that he had requested Mr. Jenks to <br />recommend a type of control which would be reported to Council. Mr. Jenks advised <br />of the type of counteracting chemical control that could be used to abolish this <br />odor and explained its causes. (Memo 12/2/66) <br />Councilman Petersen moved to authorize City Manager to advise County that City <br />is considering a strategic local consolidation program for waste disposal pro- <br />gram, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-147) <br />Mayor Herkner called a five minute recess. <br />Mayor Herkner announced "B" Dredge permit for Belmont Slough had been approved by <br />BCDC Commission at meeting held in San Francisco this date, which would allow <br />Marine World project to go full speed ahead. <br />City Manager reminded Council of discussions held at Council level during preliminary <br />planning For Canada College which made apparent serious problems in sewage dis- <br />posal in Town of Woodside, He reviewed recent circumstances which concerned <br />Redwood City boundary areas from this situation caused by leaching out of septic <br />tank fields, particularly along Harcross Road. He reported a plan had been <br />worked out from discussions held at Staff levels only between County and cities <br />concerned to provide Woodside with sewage services from Redwood City. <br />City Manager detailed from illustrated map areas involved, one to be serviced <br />through the Fair Oaks District\ lines, one which might be serviced by Menlo <br />Park, and one area which drained directly into Redwood City lines; pro -rata shares <br />of costs which had been suggested, and how these had been compiled from various <br />sources. (For full text See City Clerk's File - Sewage Treatment Programs) <br />City Manager advised preparation now being made in Woodside for sewer lines <br />to be constructed under site of Junipers Serra Freeway, and fact City is not <br />committed in any way to include Woodside in any program considered by City, as <br />it was possible they could make a connection to Menlo Park. City Manager stated <br />presentation made on this proposal at this time to indicate plan for inclusion of <br />Woodside was feasible and possibly desirable, but which had to be a Council deci- <br />sion whether this proposal should be continued beyond this point. <br />Mr. Adamson detailed further on the proposal for inclusion of Woodside to a tie-in <br />to a City sewage plan. Council questioned further details as to plan proposed and <br />how future development in Woodside areas would affect the facility. <br />
