378
Councilman Petersen requested that consideration of appointments to the Veterans
Memorial Commission be continued for one week as Committee consisting of himself and
Councilman Granger, to establish a policy for appointment to Commissions, was not
ready at this time. Mayor Herkner stated this item would be continued for one
week. (Memo 12/6/66)
Councilman Keckley recommended item requesting approval of a supplementary agreement
with architect for Multi -Purpose Bldg. for consulting services on interior de-
coration and furnishings of the building be continued to ascertain if any other
alternative possible as felt a professional decorator might be more appropriate
and consultant's fees excessive. City Manager reported check of several pro-
fessional interior decorators had indicated fees would be 10% or more instead of
the 8% requested by architect, and Staff felt architect to be qualified. He
further stated considerable work had already been done with architect working
with Park and Recreation Departments, but that no commitments had been made up
to this point. City Manager stated fee at 8% would be approximately $950.00.
Suggestions made concerning checking availability of companies handling such
furnishings and charging flat rates for services. City Attorney reminded Coun-
cil of necessity of bidding procedure if amounts proposed were over $2,000.
It was pointed out that a furniture company who offered the services of their
interior decorator, would expect to receive the furniture orders, but the
City would still have to call for bids, and the consulting firm might not be
low bidder.
Mayor Herkner ordered this item continued for one week in order Staff might make
a further investigation of Council's suggestions and report.
