Councilman Rosselli moved to refer this communication to the Transportation <br />Committee with a request that a report be made to Council in two weeks. <br />(April 3rd), Councilman Henderson felt report to be submitted should also include <br />Committee's entire recommendation which had been under study for some time. <br />Councilman Petersen, Chairman of Transportation Committee, advised replies had not <br />yet been received from three cities for answers to certain questions. Mayor Herkner <br />requested that a progress report from Transportation Committee be made to Council <br />in two weeks, together with report on results of meeting attended by the Committee <br />in Southern part of the State. Motion seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />(MINUTE ORDER #67-55) <br />Notification from County Clerk of a special meeting to be <br />called by the Chairman of the City Selection Committee for <br />the West Bay Rapid Transit Authroity, composed of the Mayor <br />of each City within the County, for the purpose of filling <br />a vacancy caused by the death of George Argiris, to be held <br />March 31, 1967, 8:00 P. 16. Bertolucci's Restaurant, South <br />San Francisco. <br />Mayor Herkner reported the nominating Committee had held one meeting concerning <br />this vacancy and intended to meet one more time before meeting scheduled for making <br />an appointment to this Commission. <br />Copy of Resolution of the Downtown merchants Association of <br />Redwood City endorsing the "Stamp Out Crime Crusade." <br />Request of City of San Clemente for Council's supporting a <br />similar Resolution as had been adopted by their City "imploring <br />citizens to show a greater respect for law and order to deter <br />increasing criminal activity and urging legislative reconsideration <br />for just and fair adjudication of persons convicted of acts con- <br />trary to society." (copies submitted to Council) <br />Letter of appreciation from Mrs. John H. Garrity for Council's <br />expression of sympathy to their family in their recent bereave- <br />ment by loss of her husband. <br />Copy of letter by Pat Barrentine, Secretary of Redwood City Civic <br />Association, Inc., addressed to Colemen Johnson, Vice President <br />of Leslie Salt Company, with copies sent to Press, BCDC, State <br />Lands Commission, and Council, in which a series of four questions <br />were asked relative to the pending quiet title suite on property <br />involved in Redwood Shores project.' <br />Mayor Herkner asked that copies of this communication be submitted to Council and <br />Mr. Johnson be asked for a copy of his reply for Council's information. At sugges- <br />tion of Councilman Bury, Mayor Herkner stated copies of Mr. Johnson's reply would <br />be requested for suncil members only. (Memo 3/21/67) <br />p <br />Councilman Rosselli commented on copy of letter written by Luman C. Drake, of Bay Land <br />Area Study Team (BLAST) addressed to State Lands Commission, concerning quiet title <br />suit of lands in Redwood Shores, which had been sent to Council, and asked that <br />Staff be directed to review communication for answer. Mayor Herkner asked that <br />Staff make a recommendation to Council regarding this communication before an answer <br />is prepared. (Memo 3/21/67) <br />Councilman Rosselli suggested that letters of congratulations on behalf of the Council <br />be sent to the following persons who had made noteworthy accomplishments in their <br />respective fields: (1) Eric Hjertberg, son of Planning Commissioner, recipient <br />of $1000 scholarship award in field of bio -chemistry from Bay Area Engineer's Week <br />Scholarship Awards; (2) Rt. Rev. Joseph D. Munier, commemorating his 30th anni- <br />versary in the priesthood; (3) Lori Maynard repeat winner of Women's Class 1, <br />Far West Ski Association Veterans' Giant Slalom Championship. <br />W2 20 '87 <br />
