30 <br />Floyd H. Hyde, Mayor of City of Fresno, requesting <br />that Council support a similar resolution to that <br />enclosed which had been adopted by their City Council <br />concerning apportionment of State Highway Funds, being proposed by <br />State legislation which would be detrimental to <br />Northern California. (Copy previously submitted to Council) <br />Mayor Herkner asked this communication be referred to the Legislative Committee <br />for a report and recommendation to the Council. (Memo 4/18/67) <br />Board of Supervisors, County of Santa Clara, submitting <br />an attached statement concerning their concept of <br />regional government proposals to be heard by the <br />California State Legislature and stating recommendations <br />they supported for changes in the Association of Bay Area _. <br />Governments. <br />Mayor Herkner stated several actions had been taken by Council on this issue <br />and recommended no further action be taken unless so desired by Council. <br />Councilman Granger asked that the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors be <br />informed of the action already taken by the Council on this matter. <br />Charles K. Korman, 3869 Farm Hill Blvd. protesting <br />the deplorable condition of the Southern Pacific <br />parking lot, bounded by James Avenue, Winklebleck <br />Street, and California Street and requesting that <br />Council make this an Agenda item for discussion on <br />April 24th, as he felt it City's responsibility to <br />maintain this lot in an acceptable condition to the <br />Southern Pacific Company. <br />City Manager advised he had discussed this matter with Mr. Korman and informed <br />him of City's position on rights, and lack of rights, City had to maintain this <br />parking lot, but Mr. Korman insisted he wanted to appear before the Council to <br />discuss the matter. After discussion on whether this should be placed on <br />Council agenda and suggestion, if allowed, that representative be asked to be <br />present from Southern Pacific, Mayor Herkner asked that Council make a decision. <br />Councilman Keckleymoved to make this subject an Agenda item for next week, and <br />that Mr. Korman be notified and Southern Pacific be asked to be represented, <br />seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Bury, <br />Henderson, Keckley and Mayor Herkner voting yes, Councilmen Granger and <br />Petersen voting no, Councilman Rosselli being noted absent. (MINUTE ORDER #67-71) <br />City Clerk reported Mayor Herkner had asked that the following communication <br />which had been addressed to him be read: <br />Redwood City Jaycees inviting the City Council to escort <br />the contestants in the "Miss Redwood City" pageant, by <br />driving cars in the parade scheduled for Saturday, May _ <br />6th, and asking to be advised of Council's wishes. <br />Mayor Herkner stated he had taken it upon himself to respond to this request by <br />stating Council might be happy to ride with the contestants but not to drive <br />themselves and asked that Council members note the date scheduled for the <br />parade. Mayor Herkner stated he would respond to request indicating Council's <br />favoring his suggestion. <br />City Manager reported he had been asked to report to Council on the following <br />items; <br />AM 17V <br />
