4"25 <br />on it having been a wonderful opportunity to see and measure character of our <br />local government and personnel against other cities, and that Redwood City <br />measured up creditably. <br />Councilman Henderson questioned whether Council should consider additional <br />members attending meetings of this significance in view of report made by Coun- <br />cilman Bury. Councilman Bury indicated he favored additional members of Council <br />being given opportunity to attend such meetings, and would recommend if other <br />meetings scheduled close to Redwood City this opportunity be given to other <br />Council members. Mayor Herkner shared Councilman Bury's viewpoints from his <br />own experience and attendance at this meeting in Las Vegas. MOORE, City Clerk <br />Minutes of Regular Weekly Study Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />January 23, 1967 7:30 p.m. <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Herkner at 7:30 p.m. <br />Councilman Rosselli announced he would be abstaining from any discussion of the <br />Lexington Avenue Improvement District because of personal interests, should this <br />item be discussed during the study meeting. <br />Councilman Henderson questioned location of "drive -up" mail box relocation on Jeff- <br />erson Avenue and was advised by City Manager it was to be located in front of the <br />Werder Insurance Office, 928 Jefferson. He advised relocation had been delayed <br />because of storm emergency activities this past week, but it would be moved to <br />the new location as soon as possible and a directional sign placed at the present <br />location when box moved. He also advised relocation of this box would result in <br />loss of one parking meter. <br />Councilman Petersen stated his previous opposition to Woodside Road Pedestrian <br />Overpass because of facts which had been presented by State advising overpasses <br />not used sufficiently to justify same, also being opposed by our own Police <br />Staff. He asked that Council reconsider this project in view of costs which had <br />escalated from those first presented of approximately $70,000 to the now pro- <br />jected costs of $110,000. <br />City Manager advised original estimate by Staff was for about $72,000 for con- <br />struction, but plans having now been received from Deleuw, Cather & Company, <br />it appeared costs would be approximately $110,000. Councilman Bury expressed <br />concern for further delays in project accelerating costs more. Councilman Hen- <br />derson remarked on fact present cost estimates had been presented to Council pre- <br />viously and support given for this project. Councilman Rosselli expressed his <br />
