MOORE, City Clerk <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />May 8, 1967 7:30 P.M. <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Henderson. <br />Invocation led by Reverend John Haverland, St. Peter's Episcopal Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D. <br />Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, John S. Rosselli, Mayor Sidney D. <br />Herkner and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Councilman Herbert G. Petersen noted <br />absent (entered meeting of 7:35 p.m.) <br />Also noted present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney Richard <br />E. Gardella, Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief William Paul- <br />stich, Planning Director Ken Schroeter, Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, <br />Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference, Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht, <br />and Deputy City Clerk Marian McCrindle. <br />Councilman Henderson moved to approve the Minutes of Regular Meeting of May 1, <br />1967, as mailed, seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried. <br />Report of "Ad Hoc" Resolutions Committee <br />& Rosselli) <br />(Councilmen Granger, Chairman, Keckley, <br />Report of Committee submitted previously to Council with recommendations for <br />guidelines on Council policy to govern certain types of Council courtesy resolu- <br />tions. Three specific types of resolutions considered by the Committee were <br />reported as follows: <br />(a) posthumous or commemorative resolutions for outstanding <br />service <br />(b) resolutions acknowledging outstanding contributions in <br />specific fields of endeavor <br />(c) resolutions of support requested by other governmental <br />agencies. <br />Committee's report further recommended specific procedures for each type of the <br />above resolutions. (For full text See City Clerk's File - Council Administration) <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the report of Resolutions Committee be adopted, <br />seconded by Councilman Keckley. Councilman Henderson questioned specific procedure <br />for "resolutions acknowledging outstanding contributions in specific fields of <br />endeavor" to be referred to the appropriate City Commission or Board. After dis- <br />cussion of handling of this subject, Mayor Herkner stated he felt intent was meant <br />to indicate direct referral by City Clerk to Board or Commission involved, when re- <br />quest submitted by Council for recognition in any special field for any Redwood <br />City citizen. <br />It was also stated guidelines could always be amended or changed.
