60
correct a publication error.) Councilman Henderson asked if this would be an
appropriate subject to refer to the League of California Cities for benefit of
their review, and what procedure shoiild be taken to make this possible. Mayor
Herkner suggested Staff make a recommendation that this subject be discussed at
the next League of California Cities Director's meeting as it could be considered
a mutual problem and a mutual source of interest. (Memo 5/9/67)
Farm Hill Slide Area report by Staff. City Manager reviewed action taken by Council
authorizing City's acceptance of deeds for the two lots on Nob Hill Road directly
effected by the slide, after removal of the houses. Acceptance of the deeds was
conditioned specifically on submittal of releases from three property owners on
Farm Hill Boulevard directly in the path of the slide. He reported the Robinson
house, had been moved some time ago and that the Nobler house was in the process
of being moved to anew site. He stated Staff now standing by but able and ready
to do the work authorized by Council, the task of shaping the hillside, when
conditions had been met.
He also advised plans and specifications had been prepared for shaping of the
area involved as soon as these conditions had been complied with. City Manager
also read report submitted to Council previously by the Chief Building Official
which detailed reasons why the delay had been caused in moving the Nobler house,
because of length of time for transfer of ownership to the new owner, and adverse
weather conditions, which had prevented new site of house being prepared by the
contractor.
City Manager stated he had the assurance from Staff that this house would be
moved from its site this week as preparatory work had already been started.
Councilman Rosselli moved to accept City Manager's report on this house moving
as presented, seconded by Councilman Keckley. Councilman Keckley also requested
that Staff continue to keep Council informed of any and all changes concerning
this slide area. Motion carried. (MINUTE ORDER #67-91)
In answer to a question from Councilman Henderson, Mayor Herkner stated that
the house moving report was only one aspect of the matter, that the slide area
would be discussed next.
Mr. Morley Turner, 969 Nob Hill Road, stated discussion
by Council only seemed to have been related to five parcels
of property which were involved directly in the slide and
questioned City's intentions on other properties adjacent
whose owners were not contacted concerning the removal of
dirt which he alleged to be cause of hillside being still
in peril of further slide damage. He questioned what was
planned by City should conditions not be met by any, or some,
of the property involved for acquisition and releases in
order City could proceed on their stated plans for reshaping
of the slide area.
City Attorney advised nothing more could be stated at this point concerning City's
intentions should conditions that would allow City to undertake corrective mea-
sures in slide area, not be met.
a 8 '67
