would leave considerable time for any amendments to be
adopted on the P -Combining District for giving City
stricter control and urged rezoning requested not be
delayed at this time.
Councilman Henderson expressed her preference for delaying action on requested
rezoning until after Subdivision Map presented and approved and the proposed
amendments to the P -Combining District had been completed, particularly in
view of having understood several tentative maps had been submitted and then
withdrawn.
Mr. Johnson stated Tentative Map had not been withdrawn.
City Attorney advised zoning, whether to that requested, or some other type
of zoning, was essential before processing of a Map was possible. Councilman
Rosselli favored granting requested rezoning as he felt it did comply with
all previous proposed planning, and that Staff had indicated necessary safe-
guards of control were satisfactory. He also cited importance of a planned
development for this project.
Councilman Bury„ in view of Staff report and unanimous action taken by the
Planning Commission for recommending requested rezoning, moved to close the
public hearing, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried.
Councilman Bury moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60.4.3 to Ordinance
No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, rezoning property within the
Redwood Peninsula Area, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. On question, Coun-
cilman Henderson again opposed granting requested zoning until a Subdivision
Map had been approved and until the P -Combining District had been clarified.
Councilman Bury stated his review of reports submitted would indicate control
under P -Combining District was possible. Planning Director stated P -Combining
District does allow latitude but does have control also, and offers:a modern
tool for planning which should be maintained. Motion carried on roll call vote
Councilman Petersen being noted absent.
PUBLIC HEARING, Resolution of Intention of the Planning Commission to rezone from
IS (Interim Study District) to PO (Professional Office District) the Sequoia
Hospital property, and from PO -T (Professional Office - Transient Residential
Units Combining District) to PO (Professional Office District) the Sequoia
Annex property, declared open and affidavits of publication and mailing ordered
filed.
Report of the Planning Commission was read in which it was stated, after a
public hearing was held on April 25th at which no protests were received, the
Commission had voted unanimously to recommend that the Council rezone the
Sequoia properties as stated. Report of the Planning Staff read in which it
'- was stated Sequoia Hospital, a quasi -public use, was recently annexed into the
City, site containing an area of 11.27 acres of land with one main multi -story
structure with parking areas. The other additional site of two acres contain-
ing a building that is in present use by the Hospital as a convalescent hospi-
tal, a quasi -public use, previously used for the same purpose but only recently
wtv 15 •s7
