429
Suggestion made that letters of appreciation be sent, on behalf of Council,
to all Departments implicated in weekend emergency. Councilman Henderson felt
Mr. Adamson and Mr. Jenks should also be included to denote Council's appreciation
for their interest and cooperation in the weekend emergency. (Memo 1/24/67)
Application of U. G. Quandt for exception to Section 30.63, Redwood City Code, to
allow two lots with depths of 85' where a 90' depth is required, and one lot
with an area of 4,675 sq. ft. where an area of 6,000 sq. ft. is required, and to
subdivide into two parcels, lots 18 and 19, Block 11, Central Park #1, at 406
Iris Street, presented for consideration.
Staff report stated Planning Commission at their meeting of January 10, 1967,
recommended that the Council grant the exception as modified and with the added
condition that the Commission would not be in favor of granting any further
variances in the setbacks on Parcel B. Planning Commission report read in which
modification was recommended, adjusting Parcel A to 6,000 sq. ft. and Parcel
B to 5,052 sq. ft.
Staff analysis stated original lot, Lot 18 had been combined with an adjoining
lot producing present sized lot 85' x 130.02 of 11,052 sq. ft., which applicant
was desirous of subdividing. Staff report further stated similar resubdivisions
had been granted in the area and although one lot would be less than the 6,000
sq. ft. the shallow depth would be compensated for, by a width greater than the
50' standard which would provide a good building site. Staff report also stated
a condition had also been added, if exception approved, and overlooked by Plan-
ning Commission, for a new sewer lateral and water service to be provided for
Parcel B from James Avenue facilities.
Councilman Rosselli asked how granting this exception would affect the neigh-
borhood. Planning Director confirmed statement that this was a similar instance
of resubdivision which had been approved in the area for unusual large lots
resulting from previous combining of smaller ones.
Paul Tessendorff questioned reason this had not been
set for a public hearing.
Planning Director advised public hearing was not necessary for exceptions. Coun-
cilman Keckley clarified questions by Mr. Tessendorff and indicating he approved
action recommended by Planning Commission.
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 5253 GRANTING EXCEPTIONS TO
PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, BEING THE SUB-
DIVISION REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND APPROVING A SUBDIVISION
THEREUNDER - U.G. QUANDT, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote.
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5254 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN STATE OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND
CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, relating TO WOODSIDE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS (STATE HIGHWAY
ROUTE 114) seconded by Councilman Petersen.
