Councilman Henderson asked that Staff be encouraged to look at a larger
area in connection with annexation in this instance to save a piecemeal approach.
Motion carried. On question, Councilman Henderson asked
how the resurfacing program is planned. City Manager explained resurfacing
is necessary where streets have been torn up previously for construction work
and that another substantial sum had been included in the next year's budget
which will provide for resurfacing in the next fiscal year. Councilman Petersen
commented on several streets he had observed in definite need of resurfacing, such
as one in particular, Cleveland from Roosevelt to Vera.
Director of Public Works stated this street had been improved to a better condition
than it was previously but the resurfacing program included mainly streets with
the most traffic.
Councilman Granger commented on requirement for public utility companies to refill
trenches, etc. to required City standards and felt this not being complied with
from instances he had witnessed.
