<br />108 <br />City Attorney reported a draft of an ordinance had been prepared concerning <br />the imposing of parking requirements which was now under review by the Plan- <br />ning Department. Councilman Henderson commented on an article she had noted <br />concerning State legislation passed concerning street signs and asked whether <br />Staff should check on the ramifications which would result to the City because <br />of such legislation. City Manager stated City does make signs by putting <br />together component parts. It was suggested this be reviewed by Legislative <br />Committee for affect of legislation on the City. (Memo 6/6/67) <br />Mayor Herkner suggested every effort should be made to meet with the Dumbarton Fire <br />Protection District to effect a new agreement. Councilman Granger moved that <br />Mayor Herkner contact Mr. Connors of the Dumbarton Fire Protection District. <br />Motion lost for lack of a second. Councilman Rosselli asked that a report be <br />made to Council next week. Councilman Petersen, Chairman of this Committee, <br />reported on the attempts made to set up a meeting. Councilman Rosselli again <br />asked this matter be placed on next Council meeting Agenda for a report and <br />recommendation of Staff and Committee for Council action. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Mary W. <br />Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, Herbert G. Petersen, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and <br />City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Councilmen Robert H. Bury and John S. Rosselli <br />(entered the meeting at 7:37 P.m.) were noted absent. Also noted present were <br />City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney Richard E. Gardella, Assistant <br />City Manager Henry V. Burget, and Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference. <br />Budget study commenced with a review of the Police Department Budget. Councilman <br />Henderson asked why the funds for the operation of the Police Youth Club were <br />included in this Budget rather than under Community Promotion. iThe City Manager <br />explained the Police Youth Club originated with the Police Department and the <br />officers are still active in participation, and the identification of the Club <br />with the Police Department was beneficial to the relationship between youth and <br />peace officers. <br />The City Manager requested the Council approve an increase in the allocation for <br />telephone expenses of the Police Department from $7,200 to $10,000 to allow the <br />installation of a "dial 9" system which would provide five lines reserved solely <br />for incoming calls to the Police Department and relieve the overloading of their <br />present facility. Councilman Rosselli moved to accept the recommendation of the <br />City Manager to increase the telephone appropriation to $10,000, seconded by <br />Councilman Henderson and carried.
