13 r <br />Council_ questioned difference between Engineer's Estimate of the cost of the paint- <br />ing of the water tanks, the bid price, and details of the specifications as to the <br />type of painting, quality, etc. City Manager reported specifications had been <br />thoroughly reviewed and Staff was satisfied they included everything necessary for <br />the job desired. <br />He further stated there was difficulty in preparing painting estimates from lack of <br />Staff experience in this field and absence of guidelines to follow, as is possible <br />in construction specifications. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5400 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR EX- <br />TERIOR PAINTING OF THREE STEEL WATER STORAGE UNITS AT CAMBRIDGE AND WILMINGTON <br />WATER STATIONS IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED; <br />AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY <br />DEPOSITS, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote, Councilman <br />Keckley being noted absent. <br />REPORT OF BID OPENING, REROOFING of 3.75 million gallon reservoir, Carson Water Sta- <br />tion. In response to questioning by Council as to how long pre- <br />sent roof had been on this reservoir, Director of Public Works stated he understood <br />it had been in place in excess of 10 years. <br />' <br />Councilman Bury moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5401 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUC- <br />TION OF REROOFING OF 3.75 MILLION GALLON RESERVOIR AT CARSON WATER STATION; REJECT- <br />ING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK; AND <br />DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSITS, seconded by Councilman Petersen and carried <br />on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted absent. <br />REPORT OF BID OPENING, Street Resurfacing, 1967. Director of Public Works reported errors noted had been <br />solely mathematical in either addition or extensions. <br />Paul Tessendorff, 45 Claremont, questioned reasons for this <br />contract when City had bought equipment for this purpose. <br />City Manager explaned the rebuilding work to be done by contract in the street <br />improvements proposed and that City forces still do the seal coating with City <br />equipment. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5402 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR RESUR- <br />FACING OF DESIGNATED STREETS; REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED; AUTHORIZING EXE- <br />CUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSITS, seconded <br />by Councilman Henderson and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Keckley being noted <br />absent. <br />.M 26 X81 <br />
