486 <br />owners or tenants of businesses and other property bordering Woodside Road, <br />"requesting City Council oppose construction of raised concrete divider on Wood- <br />side Road." <br />Mayor Herkner also announced a written question had been submitted stating "why <br />raised concrete barriers necessary, instead of painted stripes and bars"9 <br />Director of Public Works advised median barrier was necessary to preclude hap- <br />hazard movement of traffic across Woodside Road and that median barriers are <br />considered a vital safety factor. City Manager also stated this arrangment of <br />paint and chatter bars had been used earlier on Jefferson Avenue and had proved <br />unsatisfactory. <br />The following asked questions of the City Staff: <br />Louis Paolina, 362 Selby Lane, questioned concerning <br />development at Horgan Avenue. <br />Mr. Harrison, 548 Woodside Road, questioned storage lanes <br />at Hudson and why overpass had not been considered at <br />Washington School. <br />W. R. Loomis, 377 Orchard A: -e., expressed appreciation of <br />Council's consideration of problem at Washington School and <br />questioned time schedule proposed for interim signalization <br />proposed. <br />Carle Rosene, 930 Edgecliff Way questioned parking between <br />Hudson and Oxford. <br />Mr. Renheim, Valota Road, questioned alignment proposed <br />at this intersection. <br />Joe Dingman, 1130 Harrison, questioned undergrounding of <br />utilities. <br />City Manager stated this had only been discussed at Staff level but advised of <br />the present agreement with the PGE which provided they would contribute $80,000 <br />per year to be used in underground utility program. He advised first under - <br />grounding district almost completed in area of new Kaiser Hospital, and of the <br />intention to initiate additional undergrounding districts each year with expec- <br />tation that Woodside Road would also be included in this program, subject to <br />approval of property oomers, or setting up a lighting district, whichever deemed <br />best after further exploration of this subject. <br />Resident, 1240 Woodside Road, questioned plan for frontage Road <br />in front of Wells Fargo Bank at Massachusetts and change over <br />lanes from 4 to 3 at Alexander Street. <br />Owner of Palladino Market, questioned channelization proposed <br />and discussed hazards now present. <br />Hal Coehlo of Redwood Chapel Funeral Home, 847 Woodside Road, <br />questioned need for 9' sidewalks as jeopardizing future <br />additional traffic lanes. <br />Doug Moss, 1679 Carleton Court, questionedplans for widening <br />of Alameda at Woodside. <br />Councilman Henderson asked whether construction is still proposed to begin in <br />1969, and how long a construction period needed, and where it might be initiated. <br />i <br />County Engineer, Don Wilson, advised construction would be under one contract; <br />that the State usually did not specify which end of project to be constructed <br />
