349 <br />on motion of Councilman Keekley, seconded by Councilman Bury. <br />City Manager explained arrangements to include this item for discussion by the <br />Commission had been possible only by assistance of Assemblyman Britschgi. He <br />further reported because of concern over the potential traffic problems which <br />will occur with the opening of Marine World and because Division of Highways indicated it <br />was not possible to physically correct the problem prior to July 4th, the purpose <br />of appearing before this Commission meeting was to acquaint them with the problems <br />and request a higher priority for the correction of the deficiencies and to also <br />request funding for an interim solution. City Manager was requested to submit to <br />Council a report of results of this meeting because of its ramifications. Motion <br />carried. (MINUTE ORDER #68-7) <br />DAMAGE CLAIM of J. B. Finley, 2023 Palm Avenue, for property damages alledged to have <br />been caused by City sewer, denied and referred to insurance carrier on motion of <br />Councilman Petersen, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #68-8) <br />ACCOUNTS PAYABLE, Nos. 64578 to 64845 inclusive, totaling $858,392.65, were approved <br />on motion of Councilman Rosselli, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Communication from National League of Cities, addressed to <br />Councilman Bury, advising of his appointment as a member of <br />the Committee on Revenue and Finance of the League. <br />(copy submitted to Council) <br />Councilman Bury stated only three members from California were appointed to this <br />Committee and expressed his pleasure at the honor to represent California on this <br />important division concerned with municipal revenue and tax rolls and asked <br />Councills approval to accept the appointment. <br />Councilman Petersen moved to approve Vice -Mayor Bury's appointment as a member of <br />the Committee on Revenue and Finance of the National League of Cities, and offered <br />congratulations on behalf of the Council, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and <br />carried. (MINUTE ORDER #68-9) <br />Communication from James V. Fitzgerald, Chairman of County Board <br />of Supervisors, with enclosure of an organization chart containing <br />brief description of programs concerning the activities of the <br />"poverty" program in San Mateo County, for Council's information. <br />(copy submitted to Council\, <br />The request of San Mateo County for the Council's opinion on the relative merits <br />of a County -wide Human Relations Commission vs, local commissions, was discussed. <br />Councilman Rosselli, the Council's representative on the County Human Resources <br />Commission, informed the Council that an ad hoe committee had been formed to gather <br />information on this subject. <br />Mayor Herkner advised it seemed to be more in best interests of all for a County <br />Commission being maintained instead of a local one and asked that Council indicate <br />their endorsement of this position if agreeable to all.
