47:2 <br />the many details now being worked on which involved working with most of the <br />Departments in the City. In reply to questioning as to prominence of the two <br />builders mentioned for housing construction in the Redwood Shores, Mr. Wynn <br />advised they dad constructed in excess of 5,000 homes throughout the Bay area. <br />He further described the pavilion area from an illustration indicating the boat <br />storage provisions for those not having actual access on the waterway, City <br />Manager also reviewed the considerations which had been given for clearance <br />for small boats under the bridges to provide for more recreational facilities <br />for small sail boats. <br />City Manager introduced Mr. Roy Wallack, Publicity Director for Marine World, <br />and also commented on the tour which he had made of the project the day be- <br />fore and his amazement at the progress being made. <br />Mr. Wallack advised of his having worked with the first Astronauts program <br />and with City Council in Houston, Texas, but that he had never received as <br />much cooperation as had been exhibited since his working with the City of <br />Redwood City, and expressed his appreciation. <br />He advised Marine World project well on schedule for their opening on July <br />4th; advised of the tour boats having been ordered which would take approxi- <br />mately forty minutes touring the islands in the project; landscaping progress; <br />animals in training, parking areas now being graded and ready for asphalting <br />soon. He also advised of the employment schecule and expressed hope that most <br />of those employed would be coming from the Redwood City area for beginning of <br />the pre -opening training. <br />In reply to questions regarding the opening celebration planned, Mr. Wallack <br />advised Mr. Baruh was now planning with ABC on details for a spectacular 4th <br />of July opening which was hoped would also be coordinated with the City's <br />program. City Manager advised of the meetings which had already commenced at <br />Staff level with the PCA to coordinate efforts with Marine World for the 4th of <br />July celebration; theme of the PCA float which tours all of the larger parades <br />in vicinity having been preliminarily chosen with a Marine World idea, but as <br />soon as next meeting had been concluded with Mr. Baruh and others involved, a <br />final plan would be presented to Council for approval and implementation, as — <br />Council would be acting as Hosts for the Marine World opening. <br />In reply to questions relating to the signing of the project, City Manager <br />advised, as he had reported earlier, State Division of Highways had given as- <br />surance that identification signs would be up on Bayshore and at the inter- <br />change itself before July 4th. He also stated he had discussed signing with <br />ABC Staff members and had made it known if any problems were presented with <br />their identification signs, that City should be advised so that Council's Sign <br />AR 3 61 <br />
