Committee might give their attention to the problem, but that to date no <br />questions had been raised. <br />In reply to questbns concerning landscaping of Marine World, City Manager <br />stated many more plantings had been made and he had been given assurance that <br />additional plantings would be continued - <br />City Manager stated Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants had been con- <br />tacted for participation in the 4th of July celebration, and that represent- <br />atives of the Chamber of Commerce had been included in all meetings held on <br />this planning. <br />City Manager, in concluding report on Redwood Shores, asked that Mr. Charles <br />Blair, Vice -President of DMJM, be permitted to bring Council up to date on the <br />District's construction. <br />Mr.Blair described from illustrated chart the construction areas and progress <br />of each covering some thirteen specific items; Dredge A nearing completion; <br />Dredge B work to be started within the next few days; reclamation in three <br />areas for some 120 acres in design, and part of Leslie's 1968 participation <br />program; first phase of Oxidation Ponds to be completed by April 28th, <br />facility item of Marine Parkway phasing out by May 15th; street construction <br />scheduled for June completion; final review being made with City Engineering <br />Staff for Unit #1 development for first 160 residential units, 40 townhouses; <br />Waterway park (BCDC park) design nearing completion; Marine Parkway landscaping <br />due to be completed by last week of June; extension of interior waterways and <br />-- rock riprap both in design stages and to be finalized for construction shortly. <br />He also advised Division of Highways are working on the diagonal ramps at the <br />Ralston Interchange and expect to go out to bid by July or August. He also <br />commented on the worth of the Urban Design Committee in providing professional <br />recommendations on urban designing problems. He advised Council that DMJM was <br />actively involved with the Urban Design Committee as technical consultants for <br />facilities being designed. <br />Councilman Rosselli questioned whether DMJM Staff had been keeping in contact <br />with the various School Boards involved in the District as to location of school <br />sites, etc. Mr. Blair advised that the Belmont School District was particularly <br />concerned with the first area of development as it was in their District. City <br />Manager advised of a meeting held on this date with Dr. Grimes, Superintendent <br />of the Redwood City Elementary School District, because of Councils directive, <br />with view of formulating some policy for resolving some of the problems which <br />have arisen in the past, a full report of which would be submitted to the Council <br />giving a review of some of the ideas that were discussed.
