364 <br />He illustrated the three construction stages felt to be imperative at this <br />interchange: (1)immediate necessity of constructing 1100' of roadway from <br />interchange to connect to the 6 -lane divided Ralston Parkway in Redwood Shores, <br />costs of which estimated at $100,000; (2) construction of diagonal ramps at <br />Interchange on East side to carry traffic to extension of Ralston, costs of <br />which were estimated at $230,000; (3) completing clover leaf on West side of <br />interchange and total completion of interchange, costs of which estimated at <br />$450,000. Total of entire Interchange completion estimated at $1,200,000. He <br />stated State has advised it would be an impossibility to design engineering <br />and complete any construction before the scheduled Marine World opening, but <br />that it was Staff's opinion the first two stages felt to be most imperative <br />to alleviate traffic problems could be completed by July 4th -.if funds were <br />available. He also advised he had appeared before the County Sub -Committee of <br />the Highway Committee regarding improvements for this interchange and received <br />their approval for recommending County assistance to the Board of Supervisors. <br />He also advised Belmont, San Carlos, and San Mateo County through County <br />Engineer, had all expressed complete cooperation with City and it was hoped <br />would also extend further participation efforts. <br />Councilman Henderson moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 1344 APPROPRIATING SUM OF $3,600 <br />FROM UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF SALES TAX CAPITAL EXPENDITURE FUND TO PROVIDE <br />FOR PURCHASE OF FURNITURE, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC <br />WORKS, STREETS AND STORM DRAINS: AND, APPROPRIATING SUM OF $2,400 FROM UNAPPRO- <br />PRIATED BALANCE OF EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT FUND TO PROVIDE FOR PURCHASE OF PARK <br />DEPARTMENT VEHICLE, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote. <br />DAMAGE CLAIM of Ronald H. McCoy, 530 Flynn Avenue, for permission to file a late <br />claim on his claim alleging property damages and personal injuries caused by <br />a City -owned and operated vehicle was denied on motion of Councilman Petersen, <br />seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #68-23A) <br />DAMAGE CLAIM of Beth C. Dunham, 1260 So. Burwood, La Habre, California, for personal <br />injuries alledgedto have been caused by fall on a faulty sidewalk, denied and <br />referred to insurance carrier on motion of Councilman Petersen, seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #68-23B) <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />0 1,515 <br />Charles Anderson, 2138 Hillcrest Rd., advising driving <br />had been easier through downtown Redwood City during <br />the pre -Christmas traffic experimentation period. <br />(copy submitted to Council) <br />Listing from the Redwood City -San Carlos -Belmont Board <br />of Realtors of new appointments to their Civic Relations <br />Committee with hope Committee could be of assistance in <br />situations of community interest.
