364 He illustrated the three construction stages felt to be imperative at this interchange: (1)immediate necessity of constructing 1100' of roadway from interchange to connect to the 6 -lane divided Ralston Parkway in Redwood Shores, costs of which estimated at $100,000; (2) construction of diagonal ramps at Interchange on East side to carry traffic to extension of Ralston, costs of which were estimated at $230,000; (3) completing clover leaf on West side of interchange and total completion of interchange, costs of which estimated at $450,000. Total of entire Interchange completion estimated at $1,200,000. He stated State has advised it would be an impossibility to design engineering and complete any construction before the scheduled Marine World opening, but that it was Staff's opinion the first two stages felt to be most imperative to alleviate traffic problems could be completed by July 4th -.if funds were available. He also advised he had appeared before the County Sub -Committee of the Highway Committee regarding improvements for this interchange and received their approval for recommending County assistance to the Board of Supervisors. He also advised Belmont, San Carlos, and San Mateo County through County Engineer, had all expressed complete cooperation with City and it was hoped would also extend further participation efforts. Councilman Henderson moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 1344 APPROPRIATING SUM OF $3,600 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF SALES TAX CAPITAL EXPENDITURE FUND TO PROVIDE FOR PURCHASE OF FURNITURE, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, STREETS AND STORM DRAINS: AND, APPROPRIATING SUM OF $2,400 FROM UNAPPRO- PRIATED BALANCE OF EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT FUND TO PROVIDE FOR PURCHASE OF PARK DEPARTMENT VEHICLE, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote.
