He advised negotiations had not been successful so
far but a new angle now being reviewed for consideration; Ralston
Interbhange design now being checked by the State Highway Division,
encroachment permit given by the District to the City as requested
by the State; Unit #1 improvements for first housing area, draw-
ings and specifications being reviewed by City Staff, with con-
struction anticipated to begin in April; neighborhood waterway
parks under way, Marine World landscaping being checked and will
be submitted for approval by Council when all coordinated; in-
terior waterway dredging, second increment, to line up with 1969
housing, under submission with the City Manager; design formu-
lated of bridge across bridge parkway being reviewed by the Urban
Design Committee; also, another traffic analysis anticipated
because of changes since the previous one made.
Councilman Rosselli asked that a discussion be held at the next Council meet-
ing relating to Advanced Planning for the Shores project. Councilman Bury
suggested informational material be furnished Council from Urban Design Com-
mittee, even though in a preliminary stage. City Manager advised it was his
intent that Council be informed of proposed designs, but that planning thus
far still in the early formative stage with no precise designs yet available.
He advised there had been one Task Order only so far for a "mock up" model
to be made for several types of luminaires, but assured Council this Committee
was an advisory body only and all final recommendations being made for "street
furniture" design would have to go to Council for approval.
Mr. Reiter advised project pressed time -wise for some
early considerations for design of street lights be-
cause of scheduled Marine World opening, and light
installation needed before that time. He advised that
Marine World needs now taking priorities with all work
associated thereto being considered first in view of
time schedule for its opening.
wa s 15
