a. Conduct a ground control survey. Horizontal control will be referenced to NAD
1983, and vertical control will be referenced to NGVD 1929 + 100 feet.
b. Conduct aerial photography of the entire Redwood Shores Area.
c. Produce planimetric/topographic mapping for the pipeline alignments.
Topographic mapping will have an horizontal accuracy of 1.0 feet and a vertical
accuracy of 0.25 feet.
d. Conduct supplement surveying with an horizontal accuracy of 0.5 feet and a
vertical accuracy of 0.25 feet.
6. Coordinate design activities with South Bay System Authority (SBSA) and the City,
including provision of design criteria for pipes and points-of-connection at edge of
SBSA property to other consultants.
7. Review the requirements for surge protection for the recycled water facilities, using
surge analysis results obtained from SBSA for their facilities.
8. Develop design criteria for locating recycled water distribution system
appurtenances such as line valves, blow-offs, air and vacuum valves, manual air
release valves, meters, fill stations, hydrants, and potable water standby
connections, etc. for use in the final design of the project.
9. Review existing details from previous recycled water project for South Bay Water
Recycling Program and develop new standard details for the City's recycled water
system. The details will include, but not limited to the following: potable water
standby connections, fire hydrants, line valves, manual blow-offs, combination air
valves, surge control valves, meter assemblies, corrosion control, and project
signage.
10. Develop a "typical" plan and profile sheet for City review and approval.
11. Develop plan sheets for the pipelines, showing existing utilities and the proposed
alignments. Hand drawn sketches of alignment alternatives may also be periodically
submitted for City review. Traffic patterns and bus route information provided by
City will be considered when developing alignments.
12. Prepare a preliminary design level estimate of most probable construction costs.
13. Prepare and submit 10 copies of the Preliminary Design Submittal that includes:
a. Design Criteria
b. Pipeline Alignment Analysis
c. Summary of Utilities Investigation
d. Summary of Permit Investigation
e. Summary of Geotechnical Design Criteria
Agreement over $10K 16
KennedyJenks Rev-2 112603
