Section 4, 0 — Environmental Setting and Discussion of Impacts <br />Parkway is four lanes wide and provides access to the school via its intersection with Redwood <br />Shores Parkway. <br />Marlin Drive is a two-lane north -south roadway that extends south from Marlin Court to south of <br />Redwood Shores Parkway. Marlin Drive provides access to the proj ect site via its intersection with <br />Redwood Shores Parkway. <br />4.161.2 Transit, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Facilities <br />Transit <br />Existing transit service in the project area is provided by SatnTrans bus service. SamTrans bus Route <br />260 provides bus service on Shearwater Parkway and Redwood Shores Parkway within the vicinity <br />of the project site. The nearest bus stop is located next to the site on Redwood Shores Parkway, <br />Route 260 also stops at the Belmont Caltrain Station <br />Pedestrian Facilities <br />Within the vicinity of the project site, sidewalks are provided along the north side of Redwood <br />Shores Parkway, and along both sides of Egret Lane. At the intersection of Egret Lane and Redwood <br />Shores Parkway, yellow -striped crosswalks are provided across the north, south, and east legs. There <br />is a crosswalk across the north leg of the intersection of Seastorm Drive and Redwood Shores <br />Parkway, approximately 200 feet east of the site. <br />Bicycle Facilities <br />Bicycle facilities include bike paths, bike lanes, and bike routes. Bike paths (Class I facilities) are <br />pathways, separate from roadways that are designated for use by bicycles. Often, these pathways <br />also allow pedestrian access. Bike lanes (Class 11 facilities) are lanes on roadways designated for use <br />by bicycles with special lane markings, pavement legends, and signage. Bike routes (Class III) are <br />existing right-of-ways that accommodate bicycles but are not separate from the existing travel lanes. <br />Routes are typically designated only with signs. <br />Within the vicinity of the project site, there exists a Class 1 multi -use path parallel to Marine <br />Parkway, Shearwater Parkway, and Redwood Shores Parkway (east of Shell Parkway). Class II bike <br />lanes exist on both sides of Marine Parkway, on Shell Parkway between Davit Lane and Marine <br />Parkway, on Davit Lane, and on Redwood Shores Parkway. There are no bike lanes on westbound <br />Redwood Shores Parkway between the project site driveways. Egret Lane is designated as a Class III <br />bike route. There exist no other city -designated bicycle routes within the project area, but local roads <br />that carry low traffic volumes are conducive for bicyclists. <br />4.16.1.3 Parking <br />Two driveways onto Redwood Shores Parkway provide access to the parking lot for the project site. <br />The parking lot contains a total of 95 parking spaces, 46 spaces on the District property and 49 <br />City of Redwood City 88 Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration <br />Sandpiper Elementary School Facilities Expansion November 2016 <br />
