Council made various comments pertaining to the increase and asked questions. <br />Vice Mayor Pierce opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />M/S Foust/Ruskin to close the public hearing. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote by those present. <br />M/S Hartnett/Howard to: <br />A. Introduce Ordinance Amending Redwood City Code — Section 38.5 — Water <br />Basic Service Charge <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 38.5 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO WATER SERVICE CHARGES AND FEES <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with <br />Mayor Ira absent. MINUTE ORDER 04 -149 <br />B. Adopt a Resolution Amending Section 3 of Water Regulations to increase Water Use <br />Conservation Rates <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION 14598 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THE RULES AND <br />REGULATIONS OF THE REDWOOD CITY WATER DEPARTMENT (PUBLIC WORKS <br />SERVICES DEPARTMENT) RELATING TO WATER RATES; AND RESCINDING <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14537 <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with <br />Mayor Ira absent. <br />C. Amendment of Sewer Service Charges (802) <br />Public Works Superintendent Harang explained the enterprise fund and stated <br />that one of the most significant factors in the increase is a new South Bayside <br />System Authority estimated capital expenditure of $3.0 million to replace <br />damaged outfall pipe into San Francisco Bay. She further explained staffs <br />recommendations. <br />Various questions related to lifeline usage and projected increase in costs <br />were asked by Council and acknowledgment was given to staff and the <br />Utilities Committee for all the work related to this topic. <br />Vice Mayor Pierce opened the public hearing.
