3. Incidental or non-essential work related to the "emergency" job shall be deferred until regular work hours. 4. Compensation for the above materials and work completed is included in bid item no. 2 of the Bid Proposal. C. Tree planting services 1. The City plants an average of two hundred sixty (260) 15-gallon street trees throughout the year (non-drought year) - normally in two planned projects in the fall and spring seasons. The City also plants a lesser number of twenty-four inch boxed trees. The City will provide all the necessary trees plus such necessary planting materials such as stakes, tree ties, and fertilizer. Contractor shall apply all other necessary equipment, labor, and supplies to do the job. 2. At the completion of planting work, the Contractor shall update the City's computerized inventory information for the trees planted. The Contractor shall add the tree and site data. The contractor may, at the City's discretion, enter the data in a computer program or update the lists for the City to enter the data later. The inventory data includes: location, species, planting site width, diameter, condition, health, wires and utilities, sidewalk condition, and maintenance performed. 3. Compensation for the above materials and work completed is included in bid items no. 3 & no. 4 in the Bid Proposal. D. Stump removal and grinding services as assigned 1. A stump grinding machine acceptable to the City shall be used for all stump grinding work. The woody portion of the stump and large surface roots as directed shall be ground to a typical depth of twelve inches (12") below finished grade. 2. The stump debris shall be removed from the site so that the remaining site condition is a level area. All debris removed shall become the property of the Contractor for disposal. 3. Compensation for the above materials and work completed is included in bid item #5 in the Bid Proposal. E. Tree Spraying 1. The City of Redwood City may perform a dormant spray to deciduous trees during the winter spray season and a foliar spray to trees during the growing season. Predominant species are Ash and Sycamore although other tree species may be included. The size and location of the trees to be sprayed may vary and will be designated by the Director. 2. The Contractor shall be responsible for complying with all State and Federal regulations associated with the spraying of pesticides and shall be responsible for providing the necessary Pest Control Advisor recommendations and reporting for the work. All applications shall be made per labeled rates or special permits as provided by the County Agricultural Commissioner's Office. 3. The dormant spray treatment to be applied to the tree shall be formulated to manage common foliar fungal diseases as well as over-wintering insects and their eggs. This spray may typically include a spray oil, a fungicide, and an insecticide with some residual activity. 4. The foliar spray treatment to be applied to the tree shall be formulated to manage the target pest - such as aphids or scale, may be systemic, and may include a spray adjuvant. Page 3 of 4 ... .
