period that the school is in session is defined as the school year established by state law and approved by the District Board of Trustees. City shall give District priority in the scheduling of up to twenty (20) school related activities during evening hours and on weekends, provided that District notifies City in writing of such events, and their proposed dates and times, no later than June 30 of each year for the following school year. District shall also be entitled to schedule other events during evening and weekend hours on -the same terms -and -- conditions as other persons or organizations. Notwithstanding the above, District shall have the right to occupy and use the multi-purpose room/community center, at any time, in the event of a natural disaster, or other emergency, when necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of persons occupying or using school facilities. District shall perform, at its sole expense, all routine custodial and maintenance associated with the multi-purpose room/community center as may be required during the time periods that District has exclusive use of the room/center. City shall be responsible for performing routine clean up services during weekend and evening hours, and shall insure that persons or organizations using the room/center during such hours perform such clean up as may be necessary.
