(e) Storage-type water heaters <br /> shall be anchored as required in Sec. 9.136 of this <br /> code. Storage-type water heaters shall be provided <br /> with a safety pan and drain when installed in an area <br /> or compartment where leaks would likely cause damage to <br /> the building or furnishings. Such safety pans shall be <br /> constructed of noncombustible materials, extend at <br /> least two (2 ) inches beyond the exterior water heater <br /> casing, have a minimum two (2 ) inch depth, and provide <br /> a minimum three-fourths (3/4) inch diameter drain <br /> outlet. The drain shall be piped by gravity to the <br /> exterior of the building or to a location which will <br /> not cause damage. " <br /> "Section 9.89. Appendix D, Section D1 of the Plumbing <br /> Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> " 'D1. Materials. (a) Rainwater piping placed <br /> - <br /> within the interior of a building or run within a vent <br /> or shaft shall be of cast iron, galvanized steel, <br /> wrought iron, brass, copper, lead, Schedule 40 ABS or <br /> PVC DWV or other approved materials.
