MSR:dp:8/4/78R (2) Area separation walls shall extend to the outer edges of horizontal projecting elements such as balconies, roof overhangs, canopies and architec- tural projections where such elements extend more than thirty (30) inches beyond the adjacent wall face; and when a build- ing or structure has a setback, offset or other similar feature such wall shall extend to the furthest limit of the building or structure; (3) Area separation walls shall extend from the foundation to a point at least thirty (30) inches above the roof except as follows: (i) Area separation walls may terminate at the underside of the roof sheath- ing provided the roof is of at least two-hour fire resistive construction; (ii) Two-hour area separation walls may terminate at the underside of the roof sheathing provided that the roof is of at least one-hour fire resistive construction for a width of not less than five (5) feet on each side of the area separation wall termination; (iii) Two-hour separation walls may termi- nate at the underside of the roof sheathing when the roof construction is of entirely uncombustible materials; (4) Where an area separation wall separates portions of a building having different heights, such wall may either (1) terminate at a point thirty (30) inches above the lower roof level provided the exterior wall commencing at a point thirty (30) inches above the lower roof and extending a dis- tance of seven (7) feet six (6) inches in height above that point is of at least one- hour fire resistive construction and without openings; or (2) terminate at the underside of the roof sheathing of the lower roof provided said roof is of at least one-hour fire resistive construction for a width of ten (10) feet from such area separation wall. Such roof section shall be without openings.' "Section 12.15 Section 13.307 of the Fire Code is hereby amended to read as follows: -15-
