<br />MSR:dp:8/4/78R <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(2) Area separation walls shall extend <br />to the outer edges of horizontal <br />projecting elements such as balconies, <br />roof overhangs, canopies and architec- <br />tural projections where such elements <br />extend more than thirty (30) inches beyond <br />the adjacent wall face; and when a build- <br />ing or structure has a setback, offset or <br />other similar feature such wall shall <br />extend to the furthest limit of the <br />building or structure; <br /> <br />(3) Area separation walls shall extend from the <br />foundation to a point at least thirty (30) <br />inches above the roof except as follows: <br /> <br />(i) Area separation walls may terminate <br />at the underside of the roof sheath- <br />ing provided the roof is of at least <br />two-hour fire resistive construction; <br /> <br />(ii) Two-hour area separation walls may <br />terminate at the underside of the <br />roof sheathing provided that the <br />roof is of at least one-hour fire <br />resistive construction for a width <br />of not less than five (5) feet on <br />each side of the area separation <br />wall termination; <br /> <br />(iii) Two-hour separation walls may termi- <br />nate at the underside of the roof <br />sheathing when the roof construction <br />is of entirely uncombustible materials; <br /> <br />(4) Where an area separation wall separates <br />portions of a building having different <br />heights, such wall may either (1) terminate <br />at a point thirty (30) inches above the <br />lower roof level provided the exterior wall <br />commencing at a point thirty (30) inches <br />above the lower roof and extending a dis- <br />tance of seven (7) feet six (6) inches in <br />height above that point is of at least one- <br />hour fire resistive construction and without <br />openings; or (2) terminate at the underside <br />of the roof sheathing of the lower roof <br />provided said roof is of at least one-hour <br />fire resistive construction for a width of <br />ten (10) feet from such area separation wall. <br />Such roof section shall be without openings.' <br /> <br />"Section 12.15 Section 13.307 of the Fire Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />-15- <br />
