PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br /> The Public Works Department oversees a variety of services on behalf of the City <br />of Redwood City. These services include fleet maintenance, facilities maintenance, <br />custodial services, right-of-way management, wastewater management, and water <br />utility services. The fees analyzed in this report relate primarily to Utility Fees and <br />Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations. <br />1. UTILITY FEES <br />The Utility Fees evaluated in this report specifically relate to Water Meters, Fire <br />Service Line, After Hours Turn On / Turn Off Fees, and Backflow Inspection Fees. A <br />comparative survey of these fees has also been included as an attachment to this <br />report. The following subsections discuss the results of the study for each of these <br />areas. <br />(1.1) Water Meter Fees <br />The City of Redwood City currently charges a fee for service for water meters <br />that are furnished and installed by the City. These fees were established by Ordinance <br />2146, and have remain unchanged since 1998. The project team worked with staff in <br />the Public Works Department to obtain updated information regarding labor hours and <br />material costs associated with the different meter sizes.
