City Manager Everett reported that department head informational memos were included as <br />background information as to current ongoing projects included in the two year budget set by <br />Council priorities. <br /> <br />Council proceeded to present their opening comments and discussion ensued regarding regional <br />transportation oversight process, current Council committee and Board effectiveness, future land <br />use visioning process, code enforcement, budget review, a municipal facility <br />replacement/maintenance plan, sewage bill variable rate structure, review of Port Operations, land <br /> <br />use. <br /> <br />Council Member Jordan submitted a memo to Council regarding her recommendations for <br />committee/task force considerations in the areas of regional transportation, land use visioning and <br />budget review. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of Council to reaffirm the six current Council priorities and presented <br />questions to City staff, of which City Manager Everett noted some replies will be answered in future <br />memo's, due to the current meeting's time constraints with staff replies shortly. <br /> <br />Public Comment <br /> <br />Hilary Paulson, 3733 Country Club, expressed her appreciation for last year's Council priority with <br />Parks and is seeing many results, and urged Council to keep Parks as a priority as there are many <br />older parks in need of updated equipment. She also expressed the need for affordable housing in <br />Redwood City and to also keep that priority. <br /> <br />Clem Malone, 525 Seaport Blvd., stated that any housing development planning should be transit <br />orientated rather than sprawl type. <br /> <br />Barbara Pierce, 1028 Eden Bower Lane, urged cooperative facility use such as sharing school sites, <br />County facilities and the private business sector, in order to serve the community better and utilize <br />available resources. <br /> <br />Pete Hughes, 18 Admiralty Lane, stated we need to amend current regulations to allow dogs on <br />leashes with waste control measures, as Redwood City is the only City which does not allow <br />walking of dogs on public property, and noted affordable housing should be top priority. <br /> <br />John Murphy, commented we should not tamper with the separateness of the Port <br /> <br />Robert Slusser, 540 Pringle Drive, stated that long range planning should address the issue of <br />whether or not the Port should be autonomous. <br /> <br />Bobbie Miller, urged more traffic calming in neighborhoods. <br /> <br />REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING MINUTES BOOK NO. 57 JANUARY 23, 1999 <br />CITY COUNCIL ~' · Page No. 241 PAGE 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
