LSA ASSOCIATES, INC.
SEPTEMBER 2016
ROCKETSHIP REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT
INITIAL STUDY/ MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION

P:\RWC1401B Rocketship School\PRODUCTS\IS-MND\Public\Rocketship Public Review 09-29-16.docx (09/29/16) PUBLIC REVIEW DRAFT 75
Potentially
Significant
Impact
Potentially
Significant
Unless
Mitigation
Incorporated
Less Than
Significant
Impact
No
Impact
XIII. POPULATION AND HOUSING. Would the project:

a) Induce substantial population growth in an area,
either directly (for example, by proposing new homes
and businesses) or indirectly (for example, through
extension of roads or other infrastructure)?

b) Displace substantial numbers of existing housing,
necessitating the construction of replacement housing
elsewhere?

c) Displace substantial numbers of people, necessitating
the construction of replacement housing elsewhere?

a) Induce substantial population growth in an area, either directly (for example, by proposing new
homes and businesses) or indirectly (for example, through extension of roads or other
infrastructure)? (Less-Than-Significant Impact)

The project would result in the conversion of the existing warehouse building on the site to a school
use. The proposed charter school would be part of the Redwood City School system and would serve
existing demand. The project does not include housing and would not require the extension of roads
or other infrastructure into an undeveloped area. Although the proposed project would increase
employment on the site, this increase would be minor and would not be expected to substantially
increase population growth or the demand for housing in the City. Therefore, the proposed project
would not indirectly or directly induce population growth within the City.

b) Displace substantial numbers of existing housing, necessitating the construction of replacement
housing elsewhere? (No Impact)

The project site does not contain any housing or support other residential uses. No housing or
residents would be displaced by the proposed project and the project would have no impact on
housing or require construction of new housing.

c) Displace substantial numbers of people, necessitating the construction of replacement housing
elsewhere? (No Impact)

Refer to Section XIII.b.

ATTY/RESO.0032/PC RESO APPROVING CEQA - 860 CHARTER ST.
