Brian Lee
May 19, 1997
Page 2
One item not specifically documented, but after some considerable discussion it was agreed
Wilsey Ham would simplify the drawings as well as the cost sharing. For instance, fewer trench
sections would be utilized.
Based on the December 5 meeting and the utility companies submittal we prepared the plans.
Prior to the second formal meeting, a working meeting was held on January 17, 1997 at which the
discussion centered around the easements and rights of entry. The project was continuing along
the understandings of the first meeting.
On January 21, 1997 a proposal was forwarded to you for the work to be done based upon
understandings from the December 5th meeting and the January submittals. That proposal was
approved and work proceeded accordingly.
On March 13, 1997 the second formal meeting was held at which the utility companies changed
the criteria regarding trench widths and cost sharing. Trenching could not be simplified to the
extent that was done and additional smaller trenches would have to be included. Minimum depth
of trenching changed such as street crossings (Revised only as of 1997). And the cost sharing
analysis had to be accomplished according to the accepted methodology of the companies.
Two additional working meetings were held at the Wilsey Ham offices. One with PG&E which
Dick Trainer attended, and one with Pac Bell. At each of these meetings the companies further
revised some of the trench locations and house connections due to further field review.
Thus, at present, the main joint trench still lies in the sidewalk area but there are changes in each
individual trench section because of change in the conduits and connections. The cost sharing has
to be completely re-done.
We have estimated the changes brought about by the foregoing events amount to $15,000 as
shown below.
B:\042197WPD
-"..._._._~-----~"'-,."---_._~._.__._-,_.._,~--_.~.~.._--_...__._~- - f
