Mayor Greenalch stated that although it was not the usual role for the
Council to advise constituents how to deal with other public agencies, the
Environmental Protection Agency's recent actions and statements regarding the
Westport area have caused a great deal of concern, and suggested that Council
might want to send a letter to the EPA asking them to expedite their analysis
and make a decision as soon as possible.
Councilman Murray suggested a cautious approach, as urging the EPA to move
quickly might result in their taking the most restrictive course.
Councilman Claire stated he was more concerned about what the EPA was doing,
the secrecy involved, and the comments they were making, and suggested a
letter be sent to the EPA requesting information which would lead to a clear
understanding of their concerns.
MEMO 12/19/89
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS
None
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - --
STAFF REPORTS
2.
