• Updated CAD electronic submittals
• Updated Response to 100% PS&E Comments
Task 7 Right of Way Support
The following subtask will be conducted.
7.5 Utility Certification — CONSULTANT will include the sanitary sewer and water relocation
efforts into the Utility Certification that conforms to the forms and guidelines mentioned in
Appendix LL of the Caltrans Project Development Procedures Manual.
Task 7 Deliverables (to CITY and Caltrans)
• Updated Utility Certification Documents
(2) Incorporate Cement Deep Soil Mix (CDSM) Design
The scope of work for (2) Incorporate Cement Deep Soil Mix (CDSM) Design is described
below.
Scope of Work
CONSULTANT will complete the additional services described below, which are necessary to
provide ground improvement recommendations and design as part of the PS&E and RNV Support
Phase of the 101/84 (Woodside Road) Interchange Improvement Project.
Incorporate CDSM
The design scope was originally determined based on findings of the PA&ED phase, which
included standard methods for managing settlement. Through collaboration with Caltrans during
the Structure Type Selection process, it was determined that Cement Deep Soil Mix (CDSM) was
the best way to control and minimize settlement. This is expected to simplify construction,
decrease the construction timeframe, and significantly reduce the risk associated with settlement.
Additional design services are necessary to define design parameters for CDSM, which requires
geotechnical analysis, modified foundation reports, and additional design details.
The scope of work for incorporating CDSM into the Project will include the following additions
and/or modifications to subtasks, as described in the Original Agreement.
2.6.4 Foundation Reports/Log of Test Borings — CDSM analysis will be completed and
incorporated into the foundation reports, for approval by Caltrans. This will include the following
subtasks.
• Review Design Standards — Design of CDSM, also known as Deep Mixing Methods (DMM),
will be in accordance with the following manuals: (a) Caltrans Geotechnical Manual, Ground
Improvement; (b) FHWA Ground Improvement Manual; and (c) FHWA DMM Manual.
• DMM Geometry —Trial DMM geometry will be established for the engineering analysis.
• Engineering Analysis — This will include a determination of the replacement ratio as needed
and the minimum depth of the treatment required.
• Constructability, Instrumentation, and QAIQC — This will include addressing constructability
issues, providing instrumentation requirements for the Project, providing QA/QC review, and
incorporating recommendations.
ATTY/AGR/2019/AMENDMENTS/AMEND NO.2—AECOM 101/84 PS&E
REV: 07-03-19 D2
