<br /> from work; provided. however, that the City may require proof of the time such <br /> service was required and any monies received from jury service shall be <br /> deducted from the pay; provided, further, that the worker shall report to work <br /> whenever a reasonable portion of the shift remains for completion. Any worker <br /> required to serve as a juror shall not have his/her regular starting or quitting time <br /> changed as a result of being called for jury service. <br />20.9 Personal Business Leave <br /> 20.9.1 A worker shall be entitled to a maximum of two (2) days per year <br /> for Personal Business Leave without loss of pay. Such leave shall <br /> be deducted from accrued sick leave, and may be taken in <br /> increments of one (1) hour. <br /> 20.9.2 Personal Business is defined as business of urgent and compelling <br /> importance which cannot be taken care of outside of normal <br /> working hours and which is not covered under other leave <br /> provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding. <br /> 20.9.3 A worker must secure advance permission for all Personal <br /> Business Leave as defined above, and shall normally notify the <br /> Department Head two (2) days before taking this leave, unless an <br /> emergency exists which prohibits the worker from providing such <br /> advance notice. <br />20.10 Leave of Absence <br /> 20.10.1 Upon written request of a worker, the Human Resources Director <br /> may grant a leave of absence without pay for a period not to <br /> exceed one (1) year. Any authorization for a leave of absence <br /> without pay shall be made in writing by the Human Resources <br /> Director and the Department Head. <br /> 20.10.2 During an approved leave of absence, the worker shall not engage <br /> in gainful employment unless authorized to do so by written <br /> permission of the City. The City may cancel the leave of absence <br /> or terminate any worker who violates the terms and conditions of <br /> the written permission for the leave. <br />20.11 Leave for Union Business <br /> Any worker who shall hereafter be elected or officially appointed to a full-time <br /> paid position in the Union, which position requires absence from the City's <br /> service, shall be granted a leave of absence therefore, and upon retirement from <br /> 36 <br />
