<br /> 20.13.3 Family/medical leave shall normally be applied to unpaid leave <br /> only. However, at the workers' discretion, the worker may elect to <br /> apply accrued vacation, sick leave or compensatory time to the <br /> family/medical leave in accordance with the provisions of this <br /> Memorandum of Understanding regarding vacation, sick leave and <br /> compensatory time. <br /> 20.13.4 The City will maintain contributions for the worker's health benefits <br /> under group health plans at the same level as prior to the leave, in <br /> accordance with the Family & Medical Leave Act. The worker shall <br /> return to the same position, or another position with equivalent <br /> benefits, pay and other terms and conditions of employment upon <br /> completion of the leave. <br /> ARTICLE 21 - EDUCATIONAL EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT, TRAINING, <br /> LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES <br />21.1 Education Expense Reimbursement <br /> 21.1.1 Regular workers shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs of <br /> tuition, registration fees, books and supplies and other educational <br /> expenses incurred in connection with enrollment in and successful <br /> completion of courses of instruction related to the worker's position <br /> of employment with the City or a higher position with the City. <br /> 21.1.2 A worker shall be eligible to receive reimbursement not to exceed <br /> Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per fiscal year, provided that the <br /> courses of instruction require attendance at an accredited junior <br /> college or university, is part of a curriculum leading to a degree or <br /> given by an accredited institution of learning, including workshops, <br /> seminars and trade school courses, is approved in advance of <br /> enrollment by the Human Resources Director and the worker's <br /> Department Head, and the worker successfully completes such <br /> course submitted for reimbursement with a grade of "C" or better. <br /> 21.1.3 The Human Resources Director may establish standards and <br /> criteria and enact such rules, regulations, procedures and policies <br /> as are necessary or appropriate to implement the provisions of this <br /> Article 21.1. <br /> 38 <br />
