Matters of Council Interest (continued) <br />1.4 Councilwoman Buchan thanked the City Clerk Department for the new binder <br />presentation of the Council packet. <br />1.5 Mayor Greenalch thanked Councilwoman Buchan and Larry Buckmaster, Executive <br />Director of the Chamber of Commerce, for their work on the "Participate 1 88" <br />program. <br />1.6 Mayor Greenalch reported on the success of the Heritage Dinner for "Old <br />Timers" on October 1, 1988 when St. Peter's Episcopal Church's 125th <br />Anniversary was recognized and recognition was also made of Friends of the <br />Library. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />2. Traffic Committee Status (302 -14) <br />Report: City Manager 9/21/88 <br />Council agreed to review the issues and options in the order presented in the <br />subject report. <br />John Wade, 711 West California Way, member of the Traffic Committee, <br />distributed a communication to the City Council dated October 3, 1988 <br />relating to issues and problems which might be addressed by the Traffic <br />Committee. <br />(Council recessed from 8:16 to 8:21 p.m.) <br />M /S: Murray /Buchan with regard to terms of membership, to strike from <br />RESOLUTION NO. 10268 "No member shall serve more than two consecutive <br />terms " . <br />Carried by majority voice vote determined to be 4 -1. <br />M /S: Bury /Buchan with regard to staff support, to approve 2.a. with a change <br />in RESOLUTION NO. 10268 to read "The City's Traffic Engineer or his <br />designated representative shall serve as staff advisor ... ". <br />Carried by majority voice vote determined to be 3 -2. <br />In response to question regarding Committee duties, City Attorney Schricker <br />said that staff recommendations often require City Council action. <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood Road, said there is a need for an opportunity for <br />citizens to discuss traffic and provide ideas on the subject to the City. <br />M /S: Murray /Bury with regard to duties, change the appropriate section to <br />read that the Traffic Committee is to advise the City Council on short term <br />and long range traffic, transportation and parking matters which affect the <br />City of Redwood City and such other traffic related matters as the City <br />Council may request. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />10/3/88 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 48 Page 3 <br />Page No. 198 <br />
