<br />Y Trustee Deleau and carried, the same were approved as reed.
<br />The committee appointed to investigate the street work completed by A,
<br />did not present any written report, Teireact but members present expressed themselves as follows: & on
<br />A.Kincaid, Chairman of the committee stated that some of the committee measured the crown
<br />of street by the following method: Two one toot boards were place in either gutter and wins
<br />stretched across the street with the following results. Tebster street was up to tilethe only tD239tai18e wheys crown was up to staniard
<br />twelve inches. other streets varied from one half as five
<br />Inches below grade, and the average of all streets Is three Inches below grade. xn certain
<br />blocks the crown varies. Also there defects In streets in a number of cases out by wagon
<br />wheels, other places roa.ling uP,but not very pronounced, and the curbing in bad condition
<br />covered with oil, the corner grading not proper 'to carry off water near I,arrouy's corner.
<br />As to the general external appearance, In some places there was too :ranuch oil, but on th)
<br />Whole it was 1`1
<br />good• so far the committee had had no means of determining the quantity of i
<br />materials used. Mr.Kincaid , speaking for himself said:"Personally, the job as a whole appears
<br />good to me". t
<br />Pres -Merrill stated that he had instructed the Engineer to modify grades in
<br />sone instances , to allow for proper drainage.
<br />Mr.schaberg, another member of the committee, stated that as Mr.Teichert
<br />had agreed to remedy defects 2n corner .his place, he would concur in what Mr.Kincaid had sa Ldj
<br />and give the Contractor. credit , with the exception of defects noted, for the general good
<br />appearance of the streets.
<br />f execution of said work, either as to workmanship or as to the quality or amount of the materials i.
<br />used, it Is the conclusion of this Board that said work has been completed in faithful and
<br />substantial compliance with the termis of the specifications and contract under which it
<br />Was done, and said work Is hereby accepted,
<br />it Motion wleonded by Trustee Hahir and'earried,
<br />Pres.Merrill then asked him the question;"Do you ednsider the work done, as goo
<br />as other public work Of same dharacter?" Answer, "I do,"
<br />Morrie Cooper stated that taken as a whole he considettad the Contractor did
<br />good work,
<br />Mr.sears, Engineer in charge of the work in question, stated that the method
<br />t
<br />used by the committee in measuring the crown, was not a correct or proper ons, and faulty
<br />{
<br />because bath _-ZUtte;MOn either aide of the street are not on the same level, owing

<br />to the natural lay of the land, the west side of the street woyld be hip -her oir lower than
<br />the east side , and as drainage on both sides would be differently taken care of, the only way—ti

<br />stay to adjust such matters was With instruments on the job and a technical knowledge of
<br />how to remedy and to get to proper grade:,,tor drainage.
<br />The following resolution was introduced by Trustee Hynding who moved its adopti n.

<br />This Board., having Instituted and conducted a hearing in the matter of possible complai.ts re

<br />regarding the construction of certain oil—macadam roadways recently laid down in the Town
<br />of Redwood City by A.Teichert & son, Comtraotors, and it appearing that said work was executed
<br />.
<br />In a thoroughly careful and workmanlike manner, and there being no evidence of unsatisfactory

<br />f execution of said work, either as to workmanship or as to the quality or amount of the materials i.
<br />used, it Is the conclusion of this Board that said work has been completed in faithful and
<br />substantial compliance with the termis of the specifications and contract under which it
